Bountiful Welcomes a New Skate Park with Open Arms!
Bountiful has unveiled a new skate park at Washington Park, previously the site of Washington Elementary. The three-year effort to establish the park was championed by local skate enthusiast Sterling Rip, who, driven by memories of makeshift skate spots, approached city officials about the need for a dedicated skate space. The community, including former Mayor Joe Johnson and many residents, played a significant role, voting for tax increments to fund the park. While there were initial hesitations from some locals, open dialogue brought the community together. The park serves as a symbol of perseverance and Bountiful's commitment to its residents, with skating being celebrated as a form of creative expression that bridges age gaps.

Davis County Sheriff’s Office Faces Controversy over Identity Mix-Up
Adam Burdick impersonated his brother Andrew for two and a half months at Davis County Jail, leading to a series of misidentifications by law enforcement. Despite having a distinct tattoo, jail staff overlooked verifying Adam's identity during intake, even though both brothers had prior incarcerations. The mix-up came to light when the real Andrew was arrested and had to prove his innocence. Adam's deception was an attempt to evade his own warrants, not knowing his brother also had pending issues. Interestingly, their social security numbers differ by just one digit. Davis County Sheriff Kelly Sparks recognized the procedural flaws and promised improvements to avoid future mistakes.
Discovering Utah's History Through Its Enchanting Haunted Sites

Utah is not just a testament to nature's beauty but also a portal into an intriguing past. With a history stretching back to the era when Native Americans ruled the terrains, to the more recent settlers in the mid-1800s, Utah has many tales to tell.
In the span of just a few centuries, Utah has seen religious movements flourish, wars, historic railways, and much more. Each event in this land is like a magnet, pulling spirits closer. Even though many of Utah’s historical spots are less than 150 years old, their haunted lore stands proud and tall.
For those eager to explore Utah’s charming history with a sprinkle of mystery, here are ten must-visit haunted sites:
1. Seven Wives Inn, St. George - Once a haven for polygamists evading the law, this 19th-century gem is now a cozy bed and breakfast. Each room is named after the wives of the initial proprietor, and some say these ladies might still be around, making their presence known in subtle ways.
2. Lion House, Salt Lake City - Previously home to Brigham Young, this site is steeped in history. Many have sensed watchful eyes, heard footsteps, or simply felt a gentle presence - evidence of happy spirits unwilling to depart.
3. Peery Hotel, Salt Lake City - Nestled in downtown Salt Lake City, this 1910 establishment originally served miners. Today, there are tales of an elevator with a mind of its own and a mysterious tall man who vanishes when approached.
4. Alta Club, Salt Lake City - Since 1883, this classy gentlemen's club has seen celebrations and tragedies alike. Spirits are said to roam its premises, recognizable by their distinct scents or the gentle shoulder taps they give.
5. Old Bountiful Museum, Bountiful - With a varied past spanning from being a mink farm to a mortuary, this location is a ghost enthusiast's dream. Spirits are active here, often revealing themselves to the unsuspecting visitor.
6. Old Tooele Hospital, Tooele - From a private 1873 residence to a hospital, this site boasts numerous ghosts, with the initial owner, Samuel F. Lee, leading the ethereal troupe.
7. Dove Creek Camp, Golden Spike - A reminder of the mistreated Chinese laborers of the past, many claim to hear long-forgotten voices and phantom trains when visiting.
8. Ben Lomond Suites, Ogden - Tales of sorrow surround rooms 1101 and 1102. From unexpected deaths to mysterious occurrences, there's something quite chilling about these suites.
9. Cove Fort, Millard County - A fort dating back to 1867, it's said that spirits of soldiers, victims of diseases, and more wander these historic walls.
10. McCune Mansion, Brigham Young University - This stately mansion is known for unexplained organ music and a ghostly Christmas visitor in a black cape.
In Conclusion, Utah's past is as vibrant as its picturesque landscapes. Its stories of growth, challenges, and mystery are all interwoven, creating a tapestry that invites us to explore and ponder. The state's ghostly tales are a testament to its rich history, beckoning all to listen and learn.

🏐 Livingston and No. 9 BYU Women’s Volleyball Shine Bright with 10th Season Sweep against Iowa State
PROVO - Erin Livingston's outstanding play, which included 15 kills, three digs, and three block assists, was instrumental in leading the No. 9 BYU Women's Volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-17, 25-18 victory over Iowa State. Her teammate, Whitney Bower, also played a pivotal role with 27 assists, four kills, eight digs, and two blocks. The win, cheered on by 3,525 fans at the Smith Fieldhouse, marked BYU's 10th season sweep and raised their record to an impressive 17-3. Mia Lee, Big 12 Rookie of the Week, and others like Whitney Llarenas-McEwan and Kamaile Hiapo also made significant contributions to the team's win. Despite Iowa State's resilience, led by Maya Duckworth's 10 kills, BYU's strategic superiority sealed the game. BYU's coach, Heather Olmstead, lauded the team's performance and highlighted the synergy between Bower and Livingston. The Cougars look forward to their next game against the Cyclones, followed by matches against Kansas State.
