A Unique Library of Discovery: Utah Couple's Wholesome Response to Book Bans

In Washington Terrace, Utah, Tom and Hilary Hamilton set up a free front-yard library featuring only books that have been banned or challenged in the U.S., after noticing books addressing diverse experiences were being removed from local public and school libraries. The Hamiltons, with close ties to the LGBTQ community, offer titles like "Sold," "Maus," and even "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." They also maintain an online platform discussing why each book faced opposition. Having been operational for a month, their library promotes diversity, understanding, and open-mindedness, with a single rule against rude or violent behavior and a security camera in place. The Hamiltons hope to encourage future generations to embrace shared humanity and diverse experiences.
Clark Planetarium’s Fun-Filled Solar Viewing Celebration

Hey Everyone, get ready for a celestial treat! The Clark Planetarium invites everyone to the Olympic Legacy Plaza within The Gateway for the "Eclipse Extravaganza" on Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. As the moon gracefully moves in front of the sun, attendees can enjoy fun activities and a safe eclipse viewing experience.
While Salt Lake City will see about 90% of the sun hidden, those in central and southern Utah will witness a radiant "annularity," where the moon is encircled by sunlight. Safety first: Ensure you have special eclipse glasses or use a DIY pinhole projector for safe viewing. This unique solar event won't be as visible in Utah until 2045, so come celebrate with Clark Planetarium!

Crumbl Cookies: A Sweet Success with a Dash of Controversy
Utah's dessert darling, Crumbl Cookies, recently faced a mix of triumph and turmoil. Once toasted by The New York Times as the "fastest-growing dessert chain in the U.S." in April 2023, the chain now grapples with whispers of significant layoffs, reportedly affecting around 100 staff members.
While Crumbl expanded its empire, boasting 918 U.S. stores by September 2023, it wasn't without challenges. Tensions rose with competitors, notably Dirty Dough, leading to legal spats. Meanwhile, rumors bubbled about the potential closure of its flagship store in Orem, Utah.
Adding a twist to the tale, co-founder Sawyer Hemsley's recent social media showcase of his opulent new home raised eyebrows, especially amid layoff rumors.
In response to the buzz, Crumbl shared plans for "structural changes" with KSL TV. The Orem store, they explained, will focus more on retail to enhance the cookie experience for fans. The company remains hopeful, emphasizing strong sales and plans for future growth, while assuring dedication to its customers and partners. The next chapter for Crumbl remains to be baked.

Utah Jazz's Victory Over the Clippers - Key Takeaways
In Salt Lake City, the Utah Jazz staged a thrilling second-half comeback, beating the LA Clippers 101-96 during their preseason opener at the SimpliFi Arena, Hawaii. Coach Will Hardy expressed pride but acknowledged room for improvement. Highlights include:
1. Dynamic Duo: Collin Sexton and Talen Horton-Tucker shone, with Sexton acting as a key facilitator and Horton-Tucker impressing with his shots.
2. Dominant Frontcourt: Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, and John Collins showcased their strength, with Kessler blocking shots and the other two contributing crucial points.
3. Kris Dunn's Brilliance: Dunn took center stage in the second half, hinting at an exciting season with his point guard prowess.
4. Rookies' Ups and Downs: While George and Hendricks displayed potential, they also showed areas needing refinement.
5. Hawaii's Enthusiasm: The overwhelming support from Hawaiian fans was evident, making the preseason game feel as electrifying as a regular one.
With this strong start, the Jazz look forward to an exciting match in Seattle against the Clippers and a promising season ahead.
