Community Calls to Action: Addressing the Plight of Abandoned Ducks at Bountiful Pond
Bountiful Pond has become the center of concern due to the ongoing issue of people unlawfully leaving domestic ducks there. Volunteers from the Wasatch Wanderers group have stepped in to rescue these ducks, who are ill-equipped for survival in the wild, lacking the ability to fly and fend off predators. The story highlights the legal and environmental implications of such actions, pointing out that abandoning domestic animals not only violates Utah's laws but also poses risks to the pond's ecosystem and the ducks' well-being. Despite efforts to curb this practice through educational signage, limitations in city resources have hampered these initiatives. The article concludes with a plea for community support and donations to assist Wasatch Wanderers in their mission to protect these vulnerable animals and educate the public on responsible pet ownership.

An Evening of Wildlife Photography with Jim Child in West Bountiful
The West Bountiful Arts Council is hosting an event featuring acclaimed wildlife photographer, Jim Child, on February 9th at 7 p.m. at the City Hall. This event offers the public a chance to experience the beauty of nature through Child's lens, showcasing his award-winning wildlife photography and sharing intriguing stories from his photographic journeys. Attendees will learn about Child's techniques for capturing the perfect light and moments. Additionally, Child's photographs will be exhibited in the council chambers at City Hall for six months following the event.

Davis School District Bus Driver Apprehended for Solicitation of a Minor
In a shocking incident, a bus driver from the Davis School District was detained by authorities for allegedly attempting to arrange a sexual meeting with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl. The individual, identified as 31-year-old Jordan Lee Chase, faced arrest while on duty, shortly after he had dropped a sports team at a school.
The operation that led to Chase's capture was spearheaded by an undercover officer from the FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking task force, who masqueraded as a young girl online since August 2023. Chase, deceived by the officer's disguise, engaged in sending explicit images and videos, blatantly ignoring the repeated mentions of the girl's age. His tenure as a bus driver, which began in October 2020 and involved transporting students of various educational levels, has now cast a shadow over his past interactions with students.
Law enforcement's strategic intervention came as Chase made several attempts to meet with the supposed minor, marking a clear intent to commit illegal acts. The Davis School District, in light of these events, expressed profound shock and reiterated its stance against such reprehensible behavior, pledging unwavering support for ongoing investigations and student safety. The district also highlighted its stringent hiring processes, including comprehensive background checks for all employees.
