Legacy Parkway Closed After Deadly Wrong-Way Collision; DUI Investigation Underway

A tragic event unfolded on Legacy Parkway early Sunday morning when a wrong-way collision resulted in one fatality and two hospitalizations. A Toyota Camry, driven in the opposite direction of traffic, collided with a Chevy Cruze carrying two passengers near 500 South around 6:30 a.m. The impact claimed the life of a 28-year-old man in the Cruze and left the drivers of both vehicles requiring medical attention. Authorities are investigating the incident, with early suspicions suggesting the Camry's driver may have been under the influence. The accident prompted the closure of northbound Legacy Parkway for several hours as investigations took place.

Farmington Families Face Sewage Nightmare: Legal Battle Looms Over Basement Damages

In a distressing incident last November, homeowners in Farmington, Utah, faced the nightmare of raw sewage inundating their basements. This unfortunate event, which affected multiple residences, was traced back to the actions of Cherry Hill Water Park in Kaysville. The park had emptied its lazy river into the local sewer system, leading to an overload and subsequent backflow into homes. The aftermath has left residents like Tyler and Jen Erickson facing damages potentially exceeding $100,000, with the battle for compensation tangled amidst the sewer district, the water park, and insurance companies. The affected families are now contemplating legal action to seek justice and financial relief for the extensive damages suffered.

Beware of Fake Car Seats: Utah's New Safety Campaign

In Utah, there's a rising alarm over the emergence of counterfeit car seats, which are often sold online. These imitations lack the crucial safety features and rigorous testing that genuine brands undergo, endangering children's safety. The Utah Health Department advises consumers to only purchase car seats from trustworthy retailers, to look for registration cards with the product, and to steer clear of second-hand seats that might be expired or damaged. They also provided tips to identify fakes, such as checking for missing labels, absence of a manual, substandard harnessing, and unusually low prices. This initiative is part of a broader effort to educate parents on car seat safety and ensure children's well-being on the road.
