We paused voting briefly so we could make a few important updates to the ballot — including adding some local favorites that were unintentionally missed.

The refreshed Best of South Davis Food & Drink 2026 ballot is now open, with updated categories and more of the local places you know and love from North Salt Lake to Farmington.

Voting is open now through September 13.

🚨 If you voted on the first version of the ballot, please vote again on this updated ballot so your favorites are counted in the official results.

If Mahjong has been popping up on your radar lately, you’re not alone. Mahjong Hive is bringing a beginner-friendly Mahjong 101 class to Mae’s The Gathering Place in Bountiful on Tuesday, September 22, from 6–8:30 PM — perfect for anyone who’s been curious but doesn’t know where to start.

🎤 Saturday Nights Are Open Mic Nights in Bountiful

Looking for a laid-back way to enjoy some local talent — or maybe share a little of your own?

The Joy Foundation hosts Bountiful Open Mic every Saturday night at 55 N. Main Street, Suite C. The evening starts with an open jam session from 7–8 PM, followed by open mic from 8–10 PM.

Local musicians, poets, comedians and other performers are welcome, and there are even instruments available to use if you don’t bring your own.

🥫 Bountiful Food Drive Set for Sept. 12

Local churches in Bountiful and Farmington are teaming up for a community food drive benefiting the Bountiful Food Pantry as part of the annual 9/11 Day of Service. Donations can be dropped off at participating locations or directly at the pantry, 480 E. 150 N. in Bountiful, from 9–11 AM on Saturday, Sept. 12.

It’s an easy way for South Davis neighbors to help stock pantry shelves for local families — especially with items like peanut butter, boxed meals, canned foods, pasta and cereal. 👉 Read More

🚨 Salmonella Cases Reported in Northern Utah

At least 21 people have confirmed salmonella infections in Cache and Box Elder counties, and the Bear River Health Department is investigating the source. Symptoms can include diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting.

Even though these cases are outside our usual South Davis coverage area, I wanted to share this one as a helpful heads-up for local families. A little extra awareness around handwashing and food safety never hurts while health officials work to figure out the source. 👉 Read More

⚽ Farmington Edges Syracuse, 2–1

Farmington Girls Soccer picked up a 2–1 Region 1 win over Syracuse, with Mo Nielson scoring the go-ahead goal. Oaklee Stanford also found the net for Farmington, while Bailyr Manning scored for Syracuse.

It’s a strong local result for Farmington as Region 1 play continues.
