🍞 Looking for rolls that are a bite above the rest?

Meet Big Bite Breads, your new favorite stop for irresistible sweet and savory rolls. Located at 395 N Redwood Road, North Salt Lake, this family-owned bakery, owned and operated by Nannette Smith, has been delighting the community with their award-winning creations for over 16 years.

💛 A Story Baked with Love

Big Bite Breads was born out of determination during the 2008 recession. When the Smith family found themselves out of work, they turned their passion for baking into a business, sharing their beloved dinner and cinnamon rolls with the wider community. From a borrowed deli kitchen to a basement bakery, and now to a beautiful retail location on Redwood Road, Big Bite Breads continues to grow while staying true to its roots.

🤗 Why Big Bite Breads Stands Out

What makes Big Bite Breads truly special? It’s the premium quality of every bite. The Smiths use an old family recipe and never skimp when it comes to ingredients. From classic cinnamon and raspberry rolls to their award-winning garlic knots and dinner rolls, you can taste the difference in every fluffy, flavorful bite. Plus, with frozen dough options, large order discounts, and a drive-up window for easy pick-up, they make indulging simple and convenient.

🙌 Community at Heart

Big Bite Breads believes in giving back. They’ve supported school fundraisers, donated to the Lion’s Club, and contributed to local church fundraisers—all in an effort to build up the community they love.

🍀 What’s Fresh This March?

Get ready for some festive flavors! Big Bite Breads is rolling out a seasonal Chocolate Mint roll and St. Patrick’s Day gift boxes featuring cinnamon rolls with shamrock sprinkles, chocolate mint rolls, and chocolate rolls topped with chocolate frosting. Talk about a lucky treat!

Farmington’s Red Barn Academy Announces Closure After 10 Years of Service

Red Barn Academy, a Farmington-based rehabilitation center supporting men overcoming substance abuse and legal challenges, will close by mid-April due to a shift in the founder’s mission. The closure includes three affiliated businesses—Red Barn Movers, Red Barn Chicken, and Red Barn Thrift Store—that provided essential job training for residents. The academy is coordinating with local rehabilitation programs to ensure safe placement of its 78 students. Assets, including the Farmington property, will be sold for commercial development, with proceeds benefiting various charities. The closure is unrelated to federal funding, as the academy operated independently.

Lace Up for a Cause: March Madness 5K & 10K Returns to North Salt Lake on March 1

Runners and walkers alike are gearing up for the highly anticipated March Madness 5K and 10K, returning to North Salt Lake on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Set along the scenic Legacy Trail, the event kicks off at 8:00 a.m. at Foxboro North Regional Park (1140 W 1100 N, North Salt Lake, UT). Participants will race on an out-and-back course, offering a flat and fast start to the racing season.

This community favorite not only promotes health and fitness but also gives back, with proceeds benefiting the Bountiful Food Pantry. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation. Each donated item earns a raffle ticket for a chance to win exciting prizes. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting the pantry.

The race consistently sells out, thanks to its family-friendly atmosphere, affordable pricing, and fully supported course—complete with aid stations, porta-potties, chip timing, and free race photos. While T-shirts are not included to keep registration costs low, all finishers will receive medals, with age group awards available for top performers.

Races will start promptly, with the 10K beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K and Ruck event following at 8:05 a.m. Due to logistical issues with Centerville City, only the 5K, 10K, and Ruck distances are offered this year. Runners should note there’s a two-hour time limit, and chip timing will close shortly after the last runner starts.

Packet pickup is available on Friday, February 28, from 4–6 p.m. at Lee’s Grocery Store (725 N Redwood Road, North Salt Lake). Race-day packet pickup will also be available from 6:30–7:30 a.m. at the venue.

The event will take place rain, snow, or shine. In 2022, the race raised $1,300 and collected 1,188 pounds of food for the Bountiful Food Pantry. Organizers hope to surpass that total this year, with community support playing a crucial role.

Registration is open now, with a $5 discount available by entering the code “race” at checkout. Given the race’s popularity, early registration is highly recommended.

This coverage highlights the spirit of community, fitness, and giving that defines the March Madness 5K & 10K. Get registered, grab those running shoes, and make a difference this March 1!

Final Days for “Corn for Cause” Food Drive at Spectrum Academy High

Spectrum Academy High’s “Corn for Cause” food drive is wrapping up, with just a few days left to donate. Running from February 1 to 22, the event collects corn-based food items for the North Salt Lake Center of Hope Food Pantry.

Donations of canned corn, corn oil (under 24 oz), corn cereal, corn chips, corn meal, cornbread mix, and corn muffin mix can be dropped off in front of the alcove at 552 N. Cutler Drive in North Salt Lake.

Organizers hope for a strong final push to support local families and stock pantry shelves.

Let’s make it a corn-tastic finish!
