We’re waving goodbye to September today—and apparently it’s leaving us with plenty to talk about. 🍂

A three-month road closure is coming, there’s good news for local library lovers, and Bountiful picked up wins in both soccer and volleyball. Plus, October fun is already filling the calendar with pumpkins, spooky strolls, art nights and more.

🏊 West Bountiful Residents Get a Free Day at the Rec Center October 8th

West Bountiful residents can enjoy a free day at the South Davis Recreation Center next Thursday as part of the city’s Resident Appreciation Day.

Residents will receive free admission all day with a driver’s license or utility bill showing proof of residency. Ice skate rentals and room reservations are not included.

🚧 Pages Lane Closing for More Than Three Months

Pages Lane at the I-15/rail crossing will fully close Oct. 15 through Jan. 25, 2027, for FrontRunner 2X construction. Drivers will be detoured to 400 North, where West Bountiful City says to expect heavier traffic during peak travel times. FrontRunner service is expected to continue without interruption.

Anyone who regularly uses Pages Lane should plan extra time and an alternate route for more than three months.

📚 Bountiful Library Construction Ready to Move Forward

After a pause following demolition and remediation work, Davis County Library says permits are now in hand and subcontractors are ready for the Bountiful Branch renovation. The county also announced a second temporary library location in North Salt Lake is set to open October 10. The existing Bountiful “Twig” remains open at 85 N. Main Street. 

South Davis residents will soon have another nearby option for library services while the Bountiful Branch undergoes its major renovation.

⚽ Bountiful Girls Soccer Takes Over First Place

Bountiful girls soccer picked up a big Region 6 win with a 4–0 shutout over Brighton, moving the Redhawks into sole possession of first place in the region.

Emmy Sorensen, Kendyl Clark, Jane Hellewell and Myka Page each scored for Bountiful in the win.

The victory was also a little bit of payback after Brighton handed Bountiful a 3–0 loss earlier in September.

The defending 5A state champs have now won 11 of their last 12 games after opening the season with two losses.

🏐 Bountiful Volleyball Takes Down Alta

Bountiful girls volleyball picked up a road win Tuesday night, defeating Alta 3-1. The Redhawks took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-21, dropped the third 19-25, then closed out the match 25-19.

The win moves Bountiful to 10-8 on the season and gives local fans another Redhawks victory to celebrate.

As the weather starts cooling down, it’s easy to think pets don’t need as much water as they did during summer — but staying hydrated is important all year long.

Dogs still lose water through everyday activity, panting, dry indoor air, and even certain foods. A fresh, clean bowl of water can help support digestion, energy, and overall wellness.

Preppy Paws Tip: Give your pet’s water bowl a quick wash every day or two and refill it with fresh water. If your dog isn’t a big drinker, try adding a second bowl in another part of the house so water is always close by.

🐶 And if your pup is especially active, spends time outdoors, or eats mostly dry food, keep an extra eye on that bowl.
