๐จ Quick โBest of South Davisโ Update
๐ Iโve temporarily paused voting for the Best of South Davis Food & Drink 2026 ballot.
Since this is our very first Best Of contest, a few locals helped me catch some longtime community favorites that were unintentionally missed from the original ballot. Because we had only just launched, I decided Iโd rather pause, make the lists better, and relaunch it the right way.
Iโll be reopening voting soon with an updated ballot.
If you already voted today, you may need to cast your ballot again once the new version is live. I know thatโs a little inconvenient, and I really appreciate your patience.
๐ Thank you to everyone who spoke up and helped me make this first Best of South Davis even better. ๐

๐คญ Today's chuckle

My date asked me what superpower I would want, so I answered, 'Hindsight.' They said, 'Why would you want that? It wouldn't help anyone!'
'Yeah, I can see that now.'

๐ธ Bountiful Eyes Refresh for 400 North Flower Beds
Bountiful is evaluating new options for the flower beds at 400 North and the Orchard Drive and Main Street intersections after ongoing sprinkler and maintenance challenges. Mayor Kate Bradshaw said the city is considering water-wise, native landscaping that is easier and safer to maintain, with hopes for improvements by next summer.
The changes could restore a familiar Bountiful gateway feature while reducing water use and long-term maintenance demands.
๐ฏ๏ธ Davis County Man Dies at Echo Reservoir
A 46-year-old Davis County man drowned Sunday after a fishing boat carrying four family members flipped at Echo Reservoir. Another group of boaters helped bring the family to shore and began CPR, but the man was pronounced dead; the other two adults and a child were taken to a hospital for evaluation. The victim was from Davis County, making this a somber local loss and a reminder of the risks that can come with boating and reservoir recreation. ๐ Read More

๐ Bountiful Rallies Past Syracuse, 36-33
Bountiful erased a halftime deficit to beat Syracuse 36-33 in a nonregion thriller. Braden Bouchaโs 40-yard interception return with 7:12 left put the Redhawks ahead for good, while Hudson Malmrose threw three touchdown passes to help fuel the comeback.
The comeback gives the Redhawks a hard-earned early-season win against a tough Syracuse squad.
๐ GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Viewmont Sweeps West Jordan at Layton
Viewmont girls volleyball picked up a 2-0 win over West Jordan on Friday, Aug. 28, at Layton High School. The Vikings took the two sets 25-11 and 25-13, improving their record to 9-3.
Viewmont continues a strong start to the season, improving to 9-3 with the win.

Meet Biscuit, a distinguished 10-year-old gentleman with a big personality and absolutely no problem letting everyone know what he likes. ๐๐
Biscuit is the lovable โgrumpy old manโ of the family who does things on his own termsโand after 10 years, we think heโs earned it!
Heโs also pretty particular about his snacks. Ordinary dog treats simply wonโt do. Biscuit only accepts 100% meat treats, thank you very much. ๐ฅฉ And while most dog toys donโt impress him, give him a noisy plastic water bottle to crunch and chew and heโs perfectly happy.
But mention one magical wordโparkโand Biscuit is suddenly ready for action! ๐ณ๐พ A trip outside for some fresh air and quality time with his family is one of his very favorite things.
Biscuit is proof that every pup has a personality all their own, and this sweet, opinionated senior keeps everyone smiling.
๐ Weโre so happy to have Biscuit as part of the Scenthound Bountiful family!
