Today's issue includes a few interesting local updates, from changes happening at Bountiful High to a new mobile emissions testing option coming to Davis County, plus plenty of events and happenings to check out around town. 🏗️ What's Really Being Demolished at Bountiful High?
A photo showing demolition at Bountiful High School sparked plenty of questions this week, with many alumni wondering if the historic school itself was coming down.
The good news? The main high school isn't going anywhere.
Instead, crews are demolishing the old Career & Technical Education (CTE) building, making way for additional parking after the completion of a brand-new 39,500-square-foot, three-story CTE center on the south side of campus. The nearly $19.4 million facility is expected to welcome students for the 2026-27 school year and will feature expanded programs in engineering, automotive technology, culinary arts, health sciences, business, computer science, photography, and more.
While many longtime Braves shared memories of taking auto shop, woodshop, sewing, cooking, and driver's education in the old building, others who have toured the new facility say it's an incredible upgrade that will give future students even more hands-on learning opportunities.
One thing nearly everyone agreed on: no matter how much the campus changes, they'll always be proud to call themselves a Bountiful Brave.
🏛️ Davis County Updates:
🚗 Mobile Emissions Testing Coming to Davis County
Getting your vehicle emissions tested could soon be as easy as scheduling a mobile appointment. The Davis County Commission approved a pilot agreement with SafeStop Mobile Autocare that will allow mobile emissions testing while the county updates its ordinance. The pilot is expected to run through August 2027.
If the pilot is successful, residents could have a more convenient option for completing required emissions inspections without visiting a traditional testing station.
🚴 Legacy Trail Set for Pavement Improvements
A popular stretch of the Legacy Trail is getting an upgrade. Davis County commissioners approved more than $105,000 to replace worn pavement, apply a new seal coat, and repaint trail striping on a half-mile section of the trail. Most of the project will be funded through UDOT reimbursement, an outdoor recreation grant, and Proposition 1 transportation funds.
Smoother pavement and fresh striping will help keep one of Davis County's busiest trails safer and more enjoyable for walkers, runners, and cyclists.

🚔 Fruit Heights Renews Sheriff's Contract — Fruit Heights will continue relying on the Davis County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement services, remaining one of just three county cities served entirely by sheriff's deputies.
🛣️ Road Work Planned for Mutton Hollow — Commissioners approved nearly $136,000 for slurry seal and new road striping in the Mutton Hollow area to help preserve pavement and improve driving conditions.
✡️ County Condemns Antisemitism — Davis County commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution affirming there is "no place for hate" in the county by adopting the non-binding International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism.

Future Braves cheerleaders are invited to join the Bountiful High cheer squad for the ultimate Mini Cheer experience! Participants will attend cheer clinics on August 5–6, then perform and cheer at the August 7 football game. Campers will learn crowd-leading skills, perform a fun dance with poms, cheer alongside the BHS team, and take the field for a halftime performance.
