Farmington Native’s Fraud Exposé Puts Him in National Spotlight

Nick Shirley, a Farmington native once highlighted as a rising figure to watch, has gained national attention for a viral documentary alleging large-scale fraud in Minnesota’s daycare and healthcare systems. The 40-minute video, shared on X, has been viewed over 137 million times and claims more than $110 million in taxpayer money is being misused.

Shirley’s investigation includes footage of seemingly inactive facilities receiving public funds, along with interviews suggesting some centers are essentially non-operational. His findings have drawn praise from several high-profile conservative figures and criticism from progressives, who question his motives and credibility.

While reactions are divided, Shirley’s work has pushed him into the national spotlight, fulfilling predictions made about him years ago. His past, including a charitable act for teachers in high school, paints a picture of someone driven by a sense of purpose — one now playing out on a much larger stage.

Bountiful Library Closing January 26 for Major Renovation

The Bountiful Branch of the Davis County Library will temporarily close on Monday, January 26 for a major renovation project expected to last at least 18 months. The work will include a full interior redesign, upgraded building systems, and improved landscaping and parking.

A small temporary location will open in February at 85 N Main Street in Bountiful to maintain limited library services. Details about holds, pickup options, and library cards will be posted online and on social media. Patrons can already adjust their hold pickup locations using the library’s app.

The closure has sparked nostalgia and excitement among residents. Many recalled childhood visits and first library cards, while others voiced hopes for a better children’s area, creative spaces, and soundproofing. One commenter noted, “This library is long overdue for an upgrade,” while another added, “Libraries grow with their communities.”

Before construction begins, the library will host a “See You Soon” party on Saturday, January 24 at 1 p.m., giving the community a chance to celebrate the past and look forward to the future.

The renovated branch is expected to reopen in 2027, ushering in a new era for a much-loved community hub.

Reenew Wellness Center Relocates to Serene New Space in Erda

Reenew Energy Wellness Center is relocating to a new, peaceful setting in Erda later this month, marking a fresh chapter in its journey. After months of planning, the center is moving from its current location to a countryside retreat designed for deeper healing and immersive wellness experiences.

The Erda facility features an expanded Energy Enhancement System room and offers a tranquil, nature-filled environment ideal for small-group retreats and quiet reflection. This new space aligns closely with Reenew’s mission of offering comfort, restoration, and community connection.

Current members will have their memberships automatically transferred, along with special perks to ease the transition. As part of the launch, Reenew is also introducing the Reenew Rising 25 — a founding group who will receive exclusive benefits at the new location.

With this move, Reenew is reaffirming its vision for 2026 and beyond: to provide a healing space rooted in peace, purpose, and growth.
