Flu Spikes: Protect Our Little Ones

Flu is on the rise in certain parts of the United States, emphasizing that seasonal influenza activity remains high. The CDC estimates have shown at least 20 million illnesses, 230,000 hospitalizations, and 14,000 deaths from flu so far this season. The report highlights the geographic variability of flu spread, with notable increases in the Southwest and South. Public health recommendations include vaccination for everyone aged 6 months and older, quick start of prescription flu antiviral drugs for those who fall sick, and standard preventive measures like staying home when sick, covering coughs and sneezes, hand washing, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, and avoiding touching the face with unwashed hands. The season has been particularly tough on children, with a reported 65 pediatric deaths attributed to the flu.

Utah Introduces Stricter Social Media Rules for Kids, Tech Companies Push Back

Utah lawmakers have updated their approach to regulating social media with a focus on protecting minors from its harmful effects. The revised laws expand the definition of social media, introduce a safe harbor for compliant companies, and require strict age verification, among other measures. However, the changes are still under scrutiny for potential constitutional violations.
