Court to Determine Fate of Labor Trafficking Case Involving Utah Company
Rubicon Contracting LLC, a general contractor in Davis County, is facing serious allegations of labor trafficking, accused of mistreating about 150 workers from Mexico brought under H-2B visas. A judge is reviewing whether there’s enough evidence to take seven company administrators to trial, though she’s voiced concerns about the strength of the state's case. The defense argues that search warrants were improperly obtained, leading to further legal scrutiny. A decision on the trial is expected this week.

Strange Incident Spurs Safety Concerns in Bountiful: Police Increase Patrols
A Bountiful homeowner reported a man dressed in black, carrying what appeared to be a hatchet, who jumped a fence and took photos of her house before disappearing. Police are investigating the unusual behavior and increasing patrols in the area. The incident sparked concern among neighbors, though some speculated the "hatchet" could have been a camera tripod. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.

Hold On to Your Trash Cans: Wind Advisory in Centerville This Morning
The Centerville Police Department has issued a lighthearted reminder to residents about the ongoing strong winds in the area. Wind speeds are currently reaching 45 mph, with a 30% chance of gusts hitting up to 60 mph through 2 a.m. Wednesday. While no significant damage is expected, the gusts could create minor issues. Residents are advised to secure loose items like garbage cans to prevent them from being blown around.

Naked Intruder Arrested After West Valley Apartment Break-In
A 60-year-old man was arrested early Monday after allegedly breaking into a West Valley apartment on River Fringe Place while unclothed and causing significant property damage. Upon arrival, officers found the man naked amidst broken glass and scattered food, which he had reportedly thrown around the kitchen. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, facing charges including lewdness, burglary, and property damage. Read More
