Utah Man Arrested for Shooting at Girlfriend and Endangering Neighbors

A Utah man, Jose Antonio Castillo Castillo, was arrested after firing a gun at his girlfriend during an argument and accidentally shooting into a neighboring apartment. The incident, which took place in West Valley City, led to charges against Castillo including illegal shooting, aggravated assault, and drug possession. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported from the incident.

Across City Lines: Utah Police Can Pull You Over Anywhere

In Utah, a unique aspect of traffic law enforcement allows police officers the authority to conduct traffic stops outside of their own city jurisdiction. This provision extends the reach of local law enforcement, ensuring that traffic laws can be enforced uniformly across different regions. Furthermore, Utah law permits the use of unmarked cars for these routine stops, a practice that aims to enhance the effectiveness of traffic law enforcement. This approach to traffic regulation underscores the state's commitment to maintaining road safety, regardless of municipal boundaries.

Centerville and Davis County Overcome Hurdles to Continue Creek Project

After years of planning and overcoming regulatory hurdles, Centerville City and Davis County are set to continue the piping project of Deuel Creek this summer. The initiative involves installing a box culvert from 700 West to Main Street, a task expected to span two years. Despite previous progress, work was halted until a federal permit was obtained, necessitating the purchase of wetland credits to compensate for environmental impact. With the credits secured, the project, aimed at managing the creek's flow and preserving wetland habitats, is now ready to proceed.
