Food and Immunization Assistance Available Today in Woods Cross

The Woods Cross Mobile Food Pantry is offering critical support to the community today, December 26th, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at 2064 S. 800 W., Woods Cross, Utah. Operated by the Utah Food Bank, this event provides a mixture of fresh, frozen, and dry food items to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Distribution is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with supplies available while they last.

In addition to food assistance, attendees can take advantage of an on-site immunization clinic hosted by the Davis County Health Department. Vaccines offered include those for kindergarten and 7th-grade requirements, Tdap, Hepatitis A and B, pneumonia, and shingles. This combined effort aims to support both physical health and basic needs within the local community.

Volunteers have shared their hopes for cooperative weather as they prepare to welcome everyone to this judgment-free zone. No extensive documentation is required to participateβ€”just a simple intake sheet with basic questions. The event underscores a spirit of care and inclusivity during the holiday season.

For questions about the food pantry, contact the Utah Food Bank at 801-978-2452.

Christmas Day Car Fire Slows Traffic on Legacy Parkway

A vehicle traveling southbound on Legacy Parkway near 1800 North in Centerville caught fire, leading to temporary lane closures. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames and manage traffic disruptions. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

How to Responsibly Dispose of Your Christmas Tree in Utah This January

As the holiday season wraps up, disposing of your Christmas tree responsibly is an essential task for residents across Utah. Many cities and counties offer tree recycling or disposal services during the first two weeks of January. To ensure smooth collection, residents should remove all decorations, lights, tinsel, wire, ornaments, nails, tree stands, and any other non-organic materials from their trees. Artificial trees are not accepted, and large natural trees (exceeding 6-7 feet) may need to be cut in half for curbside collection.

Most collected trees are chipped and turned into mulch, which is often made available free of charge to local residents. This sustainable process supports community landscaping projects and reduces landfill waste. Residents are reminded not to burn their Christmas trees in fireplaces or wood stoves, as this can lead to dangerous creosote buildup and potential chimney fires.

For detailed Christmas tree pickup schedules and disposal instructions, refer to the listings provided here for your city or county. Procedures and dates can vary, so it’s essential to follow the specific guidelines for your area. If your location isn’t listed or if additional information is needed, contacting your local trash collection agency is recommended.

Kaysville Elementary Turns Charity into Fun with Cereal Box Dominoes

Kaysville Elementary School recently turned their charitable efforts into a delightful spectacle. The students collected an impressive 551 cereal boxes to donate to the Bountiful Food Pantry, demonstrating their commitment to helping the community. Before delivering the donations, the school turned the collection into a playful event by setting up the cereal boxes like dominoes. Students gathered to watch as the boxes toppled in a chain reaction throughout the school’s hallways, adding excitement to the generous act. This creative approach not only supported a good cause but also brought joy and engagement to the students.
