Police Crack Down on Somerset Car Theft Ring, Recover Stolen Goods
Farmington’s Somerset Farm neighborhood is seeing progress on recent car break-ins as the Farmington Police Department arrested two suspects and recovered much of the stolen property. The investigation, aided by high-quality footage and resident tips, linked suspects to a stolen credit card used locally. Neighboring areas, including Chestnut Farms, report similar incidents, emphasizing the need to secure vehicles, as many targeted cars were unlocked. The community remains hopeful for a full resolution.

High-Speed Chase in Utah Ends in Rescue of 12-Year-Old Girl from Amber Alert
A high-speed chase ended with the safe recovery of a 12-year-old girl who was the focus of an Amber Alert. The suspect, who allegedly abducted the girl from Bountiful, fled in a white Camaro, leading police on a pursuit that ended in a crash on I-215. A Woods Cross officer was injured but is expected to recover. The suspect was arrested, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle. The girl was unharmed and is receiving medical evaluation. The Amber Alert was subsequently canceled.

Woman's Climb on Transformer Cuts Power to 800 Salt Lake City Homes
A woman experiencing a mental health crisis climbed a power transformer in Salt Lake City, resulting in power being cut to 800 homes for safety reasons. The incident occurred near Gladiola Street, and the woman was taken into custody unharmed after damaging a control panel. Police, assisted by a cherry picker, de-escalated the situation, restoring power within two hours. The community expressed relief that she was safe and hoped for her well-being.

Utah’s Mountain Biking Boom Spurs Tourism and Economic Growth
High school mountain biking in Utah has exploded, with over 7,500 student riders participating in races statewide. This growth is fueling tourism and significantly benefiting local economies in rural Utah towns like Price, Cedar City, and Richfield, generating millions in revenue through events. Communities are expanding trail systems to attract riders and visitors, bringing commerce to local businesses. Utah leads as the largest youth cycling program in the country, turning races into major economic and social events.

Medicare Monday with
Matthew Jorgenson!

Let’s Talk About the ABC’s of Medicare
There are FOUR basic parts to Medicare:
- Part A - Hospital Insurance: Covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care services.
- Part B - Medical Insurance: Covers outpatient care, doctor services, preventive services, and other medically necessary services.
Part A and Part B together are called Original Medicare and are provided by the federal government. Original Medicare does not cover prescription drugs and does not have a limit on out-of-pocket medical expenses.
- Part D - Prescription Drug Coverage: Offered by private insurers, Part D adds stand-alone prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare.
- Part C - Medicare Advantage Plans: These plans bundle Part A, Part B, and often Part D into one plan. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurers, limit out-of-pocket medical expenses, and typically include additional benefits like dental, vision, and wellness programs.
Supplement Insurance Plans (Medigap): Offered by private insurers, these plans provide comprehensive coverage to fill gaps in Original Medicare by covering costs like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. They do not include Part D prescription drug coverage.
