Rise in Car and Gun Thefts Prompts Warning in Davis County

Davis County is experiencing a rise in vehicle and firearm thefts, with many incidents involving unlocked cars and unsecured weapons. Authorities say thieves are targeting easy opportunities, often hitting several vehicles in one night.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables—especially firearms—and stay alert. Increased patrols and public awareness efforts are underway to help curb the trend.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity and take simple precautions to prevent becoming victims.

Turn Extra Halloween Candy into Holiday Joy for Local Kids

As Halloween has wrapped up, Bountiful residents are being encouraged to put their leftover or excess candy to good use. The Winter Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting underprivileged children during the holiday season, is now collecting candy donations to help fill stockings for hundreds of kids in need this Christmas.

The organization, which is operated by the same family behind Skinner Produce, welcomes community contributions of unopened candy. Donations can be dropped off at Skinner Produce, located at 1852 S 400 W. Whether the store is open or closed, residents can simply leave candy on the counter — the team ensures that donations are collected daily.

This small gesture from community members can help bring holiday cheer to children who might otherwise go without.

🔍 Davis County Election Results – 2025

Davis County voters can find the latest 2025 election results on the county’s official website at daviscountyutah.gov/clerk/election/elections. The Clerk’s Office, located at 61 S Main Street in Farmington, is also available to answer questions by email at [email protected]. For statewide results, visit elections.utah.gov.

Delta Unveils Plans for High-Tech Cargo Hub at Salt Lake City Airport

Delta Air Lines will open a 48,000-square-foot cargo facility at Salt Lake City International Airport by 2027, replacing its current operations. The facility—backed by an $18 million loan from the Utah Inland Port Authority—will include warehouse and refrigerated storage space. This expansion aims to enhance air cargo infrastructure, support Utah’s supply chain, and keep locally made products in-state. The move is part of Delta’s broader commitment to its Salt Lake City hub, which now features new international routes and a pilot training center.

BYU Goalkeeper Lynette Hernaez Bryant Retires, Citing Faith and Future Plans

BYU women’s soccer will be without goalkeeper Lynette Hernaez Bryant for the 2025 season, as she has retired from competitive play to focus on her personal life, marriage, and future goals. A former All-Big 12 Freshman standout, Bryant is transitioning toward coaching and feels her decision was guided by faith. Her journey through soccer led her to her faith, her education, and her husband, whom she met at BYU before marrying in June.

🌿 Wellness Wednesday with Erin 🌿

🌿 Slow Down and Breathe

This week, Erin reminds us that slowing down isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s an act of wisdom. In a world that glorifies constant motion, rest is radical. 🌸

If you’ve been burning the candle at both ends, consider this your gentle nudge (and mental pat on the back) to pause. Take a nap. Step outside. Let your mind wander for a moment. You don’t have to earn your rest — you simply deserve it.

And if you need a little musical reminder, Erin’s favorite song beautifully captures this message:
🎶 Slow Down by Sissel

So this week, give yourself permission to slow down… and just be. 💜
