🚨 UTA Bus Slams Into Car After Chain-Reaction Crash on I-15 in Centerville

A Utah Transit Authority (UTA) bus collided with a car at high speed following a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 15 near 2100 North in Centerville. Despite the dramatic scene, only minor injuries were reported.

The incident unfolded just before 9 a.m. on May 27. Video footage from the UTA bus, which was traveling southbound, captured the moment when two vehicles collided on the highway. The force of the initial crash sent one of the vehicles careening into the express lane—directly into the path of the oncoming bus.

With little time to react, the UTA bus struck the car head-on while traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour.

In total, five vehicles were involved in the collision, including the UTA bus. Fortunately, the bus was on its first route of the day and was not carrying any passengers at the time. The bus driver escaped injury, while three other drivers involved sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the initial crash.

Community Favorites Shine at Best of Davis County Awards

The Davis Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Standard Examiner, honored 90 local businesses during the annual Best of Davis County Awards, held at Young Automotive Headquarters in Layton. More than 260 community members attended the event.

Winners were chosen through an online public vote. Layton Hospital earned Best Hospital, while orthopedic surgeon Dr. Daniel Tensmeyer was named Best Physician for his outstanding care and community involvement.

Davis Technical College emerged as a major winner, securing Best Trade and Technical School, Best Program (Beauty School), and Best Employer. The college attributed its success to dedicated faculty and a flexible learning model tailored to industry needs.

The event was supported by sponsors including Iron Gate Grill, Intermountain Health, True Pros, Valley Glass, and Young Automotive. Organizers praised the celebration’s success and plan to continue the tradition next year.

West Valley Mother Charged After Infant Left in Hot Car for Nearly Two Hours

A West Valley mother has been charged with aggravated child abuse after allegedly leaving her 10-month-old son in a hot car for 108 minutes. The incident occurred on June 4 in a parking lot where the car was exposed to direct sunlight with minimal ventilation. The temperature inside the vehicle reached 102 degrees. Authorities say the child was discovered crying and distressed, and the mother returned to the scene as police arrived. Prosecutors stress the deliberate nature of such incidents, citing national heatstroke statistics.
