Centerville Police Urge Patience Amid Chaotic Intersection Changes

A normally busy Centerville intersection has become a source of confusion and frustration for drivers, as temporary lane changes disrupt typical traffic flow.

The intersection of 400 West and Parrish Lane—specifically the northbound approach—is currently operating under a modified traffic pattern due to ongoing road work or construction changes. In a shift from the norm, the usual straight-ahead lane has been converted into a left-turn-only lane. Meanwhile, the right-turn-only lane now allows both right turns and "straight" travel, although that straight movement involves an awkward leftward jog to align with the continuing lane.

The result? A chaotic merge in the middle of the intersection, as drivers in both the far-right and far-left lanes attempt to move forward—often unaware they’re converging into the same space. With some vehicles going straight from the left-turn-only lane and others doing the same from the far-right lane, conflicts and close calls have become increasingly common.

City officials are urging drivers to slow down, stay alert, and pay close attention to signage. Turn signals and patience, they say, are essential tools in navigating the temporary layout safely. Authorities are optimistic the current setup won’t last long, but until then, they’re asking for community cooperation.

🚨 Farmington Officer Shoots, Kills Man Who Allegedly Threatened Woman with Gun

A man was shot and killed by police in Farmington early Monday after reportedly refusing to drop a gun during a domestic dispute. Officers responded to a disturbance and found the man allegedly threatening a woman with a handgun. He was shot after failing to comply with commands. No one else was injured, and the incident is under investigation.

⚽️ Redhawks Stay Perfect in League Play as Region Battles Heat Up

Bountiful remains unbeaten in Region 5 play, winning eight straight games and recording four shutouts. Davis leads Region 1 with strong defense and a balanced attack, despite a loss early in the season. Farmington continues to struggle offensively under a new coach, while Viewmont remains in contention with solid goal production from its top scorers. Weather has disrupted Woods Cross’s season, but the Wildcats remain competitive in region play despite limited scoring.

Bountiful High School is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Fools for Jazz, a swing dance event featuring live student and alumni jazz performances, a free dance lesson, themed contests, and food. The event takes place in the school’s old gym, transformed into a 1940s dance hall. Live music runs from 6–9 p.m., with a free dance lesson at 5:30 p.m. Tickets and table reservations are available at dsdgive.net.
