๐ง UDOT Worker Hit Again in Eerily Similar I-15 Crash
A UDOT roadway safety specialist was helping a stranded driver on I-15 in Bountiful Monday morning when his truck was struck by another vehicle. The incident was especially alarming because Brad Aven experienced a nearly identical crash in 2021 while assisting a motorist, a collision that resulted in two fatalities and left him recovering from injuries for months. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt in Mondayโs crash. ๐ Read More
๐ฒ E-Bike Rebates Gone in Just 8 Hours
Demand for Utahโs new e-bike rebate program was so strong that all 2,000 available vouchers were claimed within eight hours of applications opening Monday. Eligible residents in Davis, Salt Lake, Weber, Tooele, and Utah counties could receive up to $800 toward the purchase of a new e-bike, depending on income qualifications.
The overwhelming response shows strong local interest in lower-cost transportation options, but it also comes as Utah officials tighten e-bike regulations following a rise in serious crashes and trauma-related injuries. ๐ Read More

A Chemical-Free Way to Fight Mosquitoes
Tired of mosquitoes taking over your backyard? A simple "Mosquito Bucket of Doom" may help reduce mosquito populations without spraying chemicals. Just fill a 5-gallon bucket with water, add some grass clippings or leaves, let it sit for a day, then add a mosquito dunk (BTI). Mosquitoes are attracted to the water and lay their eggs there, but the BTI targets and kills mosquito larvae while remaining safe for bees, butterflies, birds, pets, and people. One dunk lasts about a month, and the more neighbors who participate, the bigger the impact on local mosquito populations.

Meet Arlo! Our brave and handsome spotlight pup! ๐
Last summer, Arlo began developing sores on his skin. Thanks to his regular hygiene care and routine SCENT Checks(Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, Teeth), his owner was able to pinpoint when those changes first appeared. That timeline made a huge difference โ helping Arloโs veterinary team diagnose his autoimmune disease early and begin treatment right away.
Arloโs mom shared that these routine checks were โthe biggest blessingโ for Arlo โ words that truly mean the world to our team. ๐
Stories like Arloโs remind us why routine care matters. Itโs not just about helping dogs look their best โ itโs about helping pet parents notice changes early and supporting their dogโs long-term health.
At Scenthound Bountiful, we prioritize health, not just haircuts. Weโre honored to be part of Arloโs journey and grateful to support families through proactive, compassionate care.
Way to go, Arlo โ weโre so proud of you! ๐ถโจ
๐พ We'll be back next week with another heartwarming story from a local pup in our Bountiful Dog of the Week series. Stay tuned! ๐

Let Them Work for It ๐ถ
Dogs were born to solve problems, explore, and use their brains. That's why enrichment activities can be just as important as exercise.
Try making one meal a little more challenging this week:
โข Use a puzzle toy or Toppl
โข Scatter kibble in the grass for a sniff-and-find game
โข Hide a few treats around the house
Just a few extra minutes of "brain work" can help reduce boredom, build confidence, and leave your dog feeling more satisfied.
โจ A tired mind often leads to a calmer, happier dog.
Stop by Preppy Paws for enrichment toys, healthy treats, and ideas to keep your pup engaged and thriving! ๐พ๐

Families are currently needed to host Taiwanese students visiting Utah from June 17 โ July 7. Host families receive a stipend, and students will attend classes at the University of Utah during the weekdays while experiencing everyday life with local families.
Hosts provide meals, separate beds, and include students in normal family activities and conversation to help them practice English and experience American culture.
There are currently 5 boys and 5 girls still needing placement. Families near TRAX or bus routes are especially helpful, but not required.
