πΈ Free Family Adventures Await in Davis County This Spring Break!
We hope you're all having a wonderful Spring Break so far! Although the weather hasn't been as splendid as we might have hoped, we're eager to add an extra dash of excitement to your holiday plans. To do this, we've gathered a collection of ideas from a recent Facebook post by βCreate Better Health Davis County.β Enjoy!
- USU Botanical Center Adventures: Embrace the outdoors at the USU Botanical Center from sunrise to sunset. Look out for baby animals on the trails and make use of the "Hidden Gems Adventure Guides" by Utah State University Extension for a unique exploration. Additionally, participate in the virtual Marathon Kids program and enjoy daily changing self-guided activities outside USU Kaysville.
- Library Fun: Visit your local Davis County-Library branch for extra activities, including storytime, scavenger hunts, and more. The children's section is packed with engaging activities for on-site enjoyment or take-home fun.
- Playground Exploration: Discover the best playgrounds in Davis County, from exciting slides and swings to spacious areas perfect for a family day out. Each playground offers its unique set of features, including water elements for the summer.
- Hiking Trails: Explore the great outdoors on Davis County's trails. Discover Davis provides a comprehensive map and blog posts detailing trail difficulties, locations, and hiking tips.
- Hidden Gem Adventure Guides: USU Extension offers downloadable guides for adventures across Utah, including specific gems in Davis County like the USU Botanical Center. These guides are perfect for family and couples looking to explore their neighborhood or the state at large.
- Cooking Challenge: Stir up some fun with a family cooking challenge. Use ingredients at hand or set a budget for a store run. Divide into teams, assign dishes, and enjoy a homemade meal together. For recipe inspiration, check out createbetterhealth.org or kidscreateutah.org.
These activities are designed to enrich your spring break with minimal cost and maximum fun. Whether you're in the mood for an outdoor adventure, a cozy library visit, or a playful day at the playground, Davis County has something for everyone. Let's make this spring break one to remember!

Emergency CPR by Passing Nurse Turns Lifesaver for Utah Teen with Heart Condition
A quick-thinking nurse in Bountiful, Utah, saved 17-year-old Brayden Urland after he suffered a heart attack. The nurse, Tiffany Bears, administered CPR until emergency responders arrived. Diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Brayden now faces a new chapter with the need for a pacemaker. This incident highlights the importance of CPR knowledge and the difference it can make in emergency situations. A GoFundMe has been set up to support Brayden's recovery, as his family advocates for CPR training for all.

π» Heartfelt Appeal for the Return of a Late Grandfather's Truck
In a touching appeal to the public, Jack Casper, a dedicated college student from Salt Lake City, is earnestly requesting the return of his stolen 2012 Nissan Frontier. This truck isn't just a means of transportation for Casper; it's a treasured link to his late grandfather, Steve Casper, who passed away nearly two years ago. The gray, four-door vehicle, cherished for the memories of rides to school and time spent together, was taken following a gathering at Casper's residence. As police delve into the investigation, Casper remains hopeful for its recovery, longing to preserve this vital connection to his grandfather.
