EV Fire Erupts at Local Dealership, Crews Contain Blaze Without Injuries

On November 28, 2025, South Davis Metro Fire crews responded to a fire involving an electric vehicle at a local dealership. Truck 85 arrived to find smoke coming from the EV and quickly pulled it away from nearby vehicles to prevent the fire from spreading.

Electric vehicle fires are particularly difficult to control due to the risk of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries. In this case, the fire burned for over an hour before crews extinguished it and ultimately buried the vehicle in sand to prevent reignition.

Additional units, including Battalion 81, HazMat, Medic Engine 81, and Chief 841, were called in to assist. No injuries were reported, and the fire is believed to have been caused by mechanical failure.

Kaysville Teen Launches Senior Support Service Inspired by Her Grandfather

A Kaysville teen is turning a personal family experience into a heartfelt business aimed at helping local seniors and their caregivers. Starting in January 2026, Zoe will launch Dave’s Buddies, a service offering companionship and everyday assistance to older adults in Kaysville and nearby areas.

Named after her grandfather Dave, who lived with Alzheimer’s, the business was inspired by Zoe’s time helping care for him. Seeing the challenges her family faced sparked her desire to support others in similar situations.

Dave’s Buddies will provide non-medical help including conversation, walks, meal prep, errands, tech support, and rides to appointments. Services will be available weekdays, with rates between $20 and $25 per hour.

Zoe’s goal is to make life a little easier and more enjoyable for seniors — and to give families peace of mind. She’ll begin accepting clients in January and invites interested families to reach out to learn more.

Urgent Search Underway for Missing Bountiful Child After Visitation No-Show

An Endangered Missing Advisory has been issued for 5-year-old James Despain of Bountiful after his non-custodial father failed to return him following a visitation Thursday evening. Authorities say Benjamin Despain picked up James but never brought him to the agreed location. The father had previously expressed intent to prevent a planned surgery. They were last seen traveling in a red Toyota Tacoma towing a white Forest River trailer.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has information about their whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.

🏀 Boys Basketball:
Woods Cross Pulls Away in Third to Top Clearfield 59-52

Woods Cross defeated Clearfield 59-52, pulling away with a dominant third quarter. Elliot Bendinger scored 19 points and Marcus Stepan added 17 to lead the charge. Clearfield’s Bode Davis and Jack Galvan combined for 29 points, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
