๐จ Explosives Discovery Triggers Widespread Evacuation Alert Across South Davis
Residents across parts of South Davis County โ including areas outside West Bountiful โ received an emergency evacuation alert Tuesday morning after police discovered explosive materials inside a West Bountiful home. According to local reports and community comments, officers found old dynamite and blasting caps stored near a large diesel fuel tank, leading authorities to temporarily evacuate nearby homes while bomb squads safely removed the materials. An 80-year-old man was reportedly arrested following the discovery.
Why It Matters: Even residents outside the immediate evacuation zone received the alert, highlighting the seriousness of the situation and the broad emergency notification system used to keep South Davis communities informed during potential public safety threats. ๐ Read More

๐ Hidden Rooms Found at Bountiful Library
Demo work at the Bountiful Library uncovered a hidden piece of local history โ old typewriter rooms from the libraryโs original layout that had been sealed off during a past remodel. The discovery was shared by the Davis County Library, sparking plenty of curiosity about what other forgotten features might still be tucked away inside the building.
Why It Matters: Itโs a fun reminder of Bountifulโs local history and how community spaces evolve over time while still holding pieces of the past. ๐ See Post

๐ฅ Davis County Deputies to Carry โFlame of Hopeโ Through South Davis
The Davis County Sheriff's Office will join police and fire agencies across the county on Friday, May 1, for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Utah. The relay will make stops in West Point, Clearfield/Clinton, and Farmington as first responders carry the โFlame of Hopeโ to raise awareness and support for local athletes with disabilities.
Why It Matters: The event brings South Davis communities together to support inclusion, celebrate local athletes, and raise visibility for programs that serve individuals of all abilities. ๐ See Post

โพ Local High School Baseball Roundup: Farmington Stages Wild Comeback, Bountiful Wins at Home
It was a busy Friday on the diamond for Local High School Baseball teams, highlighted by a dramatic comeback from Farmington High School Phoenix in a 14-13 Region 1 win over Davis High School Darts. Farmington erased an early deficit with a huge nine-run third inning before securing the victory in extra innings. Meanwhile, Bountiful High School Redhawks defeated Skyline High School Eagles 5-2 behind seven strikeouts from pitcher Q Garff, while Viewmont High School Vikings struggled on the road in a 10-0 loss to Brighton High School Bengals.
Farmingtonโs offense exploded for 16 hits in the back-and-forth rivalry matchup, while Bountiful got key extra-base hits from Mickey Willis, Tait Caldwell, and Kyson Burningham in its home win. Viewmont managed just three hits against Brighton as the Bengals pulled away early.
Why It Matters: With region play heating up, every win matters for South Davis teams battling for playoff positioning and momentum heading into the final stretch of the season
