🌟 Days for Girls –
Supporting Dignity, One Kit at a Time

Nestled right here in North Salt Lake, Days for Girls is doing extraordinary things with a mission that reaches far beyond our neighborhood. This incredible nonprofit organization has spent the last 15 years working to advance menstrual health, dignity, and opportunity for girls and women around the globe—and yes, they’re making waves right from our own backyard!

With a global network of passionate volunteers, Days for Girls creates washable, reusable menstrual hygiene kits that are distributed to girls and women in cities, villages, and refugee camps worldwide. Each kit comes with vital health education and is a step toward ending period poverty and advancing menstrual equity—a mission that truly sets them apart.

They had the chance to connect with the local Resource Shop Coordinator, who’s been involved with Days for Girls since 2019. She helped open their original shop in Centerville and has watched their impact grow exponentially—so much so that they’ve now expanded into a larger warehouse in North Salt Lake.

Their local team is always looking for kind-hearted volunteers to jump in and help sew, organize, and prepare materials, or even host donation drives. (They’re especially in need of 100% cotton washcloths and girls’/women’s underwear—so if you’re doing a Target run, consider grabbing an extra pack to donate!)

Most recently, Days for Girls shipped thousands of kits to Cuba and Thailand—and that’s just the beginning. Upcoming projects are already in the works, and there are plenty of ways for our Bountiful community to get involved. Stop by Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9-1 to volunteer or visit daysforgirls.org to learn more.

Whether you’re looking for a meaningful cause to support, want to teach your kids about global service, or are simply curious about how you can help, Days for Girls is a local gem with a global heart. 💛

🚧 Heads Up, Drivers: I-15 Detours Coming to Davis County

Drivers in Davis County should prepare for significant overnight closures on Interstate 15 later this week, as crews begin major work on the Shepard Lane overpass.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-15 will be fully closed between 200 North and Park Lane during several scheduled nighttime windows to accommodate the ongoing bridge construction. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has announced the following closure times:

• Friday, April 18 from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

• Monday, April 21 through Thursday, April 24, nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

• Friday, April 25 from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.

All vehicles will be rerouted through US-89 and Main Street in Kaysville while the work is underway. Commuters should plan ahead and expect considerable travel delays throughout the affected periods.

These closures are part of the Shepard Lane Interchange project, a long-term infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving traffic flow and safety in the area. Drivers are encouraged to check updates and construction details by visiting udotinput.utah.gov/shepardlaneinterchange.

Kaysville Innovator Wins Business Challenge with Eco-Friendly Paper Towel Startup

A local business visionary has taken the top prize at the Get Started business idea challenge, impressing judges with a unique approach to sustainable consumer goods. Kassandra Greer’s business idea won with her eco-friendly company ecoX, which produces reusable bamboo paper towels. The competition, hosted by the Davis Chamber of Commerce, awarded her over $10,000 in prizes to help grow her business. The event highlights local entrepreneurial talent and supports sustainable innovation in Davis County.

📝 Hiking Toward Healing: Utahns Turn to Nature for Mental Wellness

Utah residents are increasingly using hiking and outdoor activities as a means to improve mental health. With support from mental health professionals, many are finding emotional relief and personal growth on the trails. Organized group hikes and therapy-integrated outdoor sessions are helping individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and loneliness by connecting with nature and each other.

In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Bridger’s family is celebrating the incredible impact of the Northern Utah Autism Program (NUAP)—a nonprofit early intervention program that has helped their son thrive. NUAP serves local children ages 3–5 with autism and is funded entirely by parents and community support.

To give back, the family is hosting a Golf Tournament Fundraiser this fall at Ogden Golf & Country Club to benefit NUAP. They’re looking for sponsors, raffle donations, and helping hands.
