Chaotic Father’s Day Keeps Davis County First Responders on the Move After Back-to-Back Emergencies
What was meant to be a quiet Father’s Day turned into a fast-paced afternoon for first responders in Davis County, as emergency crews were forced to juggle multiple incidents in a narrow two-hour window.
The South Davis Metro Fire Service first swung into action early Sunday after a small brush fire ignited along the shoulder of Interstate 15. Firefighters managed to move quickly, containing the flames before they could threaten nearby structures or trigger major gridlock on the busy highway.
The relief was short-lived, however. Less than two hours after clearing the highway scene, crews were dispatched into the rugged terrain of the Bountiful Peak area following reports of an ATV accident.
While specific details regarding the cause of the crash remain limited, local officials confirmed a fortunate outcome to the chaotic afternoon: no injuries were reported in either incident. 👉 Read More

🔥 Bountiful Police Limit Holiday Fireworks Amid Elevated Fire Risk
Local authorities are tightening the rules on summer celebrations as a remarkably dry year elevates the threat of wildfires. The Bountiful City Police Department announced strict limitations on fireworks ahead of the Independence Day and Pioneer Day holidays.
While state law prevents a complete ban, residents will only be permitted to light fireworks from July 2–5 and July 22–25. Furthermore, to protect vulnerable foothills, fireworks are entirely prohibited anywhere east of Orchard Drive / 400 East.
"We love celebrating," the department noted, "but we would love for them to be celebrated safely." Residents can check the Bountiful City or South Davis Metro Fire webpages for specific boundary maps.
💬 COMMUNITY CHATTER

Foothills Fire Fears: Bountiful Residents Clash Online Over Canyon Shooting Rules
What started as a simple question from a local cyclist online quickly snowballed into a heated community debate about guns, fires, and trail etiquette near the Bountiful "B." The rider noted that watching crowds fire off rounds during a bone-dry summer felt like a "disaster waiting to happen."
The post got so much traction that a Davis County Sheriff’s deputy and local officials hopped into the comments to lay down the official U.S. Forest Service rules:
The 5,200-Foot Rule: Shooting is completely banned on the lower firebreak road and anywhere below the 5,200-foot elevation mark (the first switchback up Ward Canyon).
The "No Spark" Policy: Due to fire danger, deputies are enforcing a strict ban on steel targets, steel-core ammo, and clay pigeons.
Keep Your Distance: Shooters must be at least 200 feet away from roads or trails and use proper backstops.
The comment section quickly split. Some locals vented about shooters leaving trash behind and firing too close to paths, while others defended their right to use public land responsibly.
Interestingly, patrolling deputies noted that target shooters aren't their biggest headache right now—it's teenagers hauling wooden pallets up the mountain for bonfires and forgetting to bring water to put them out. Local leaders are urging residents to skip the internet arguments and call the Sheriff’s Office directly if they see dangerous behavior in the hills.

🚂 Soul Elevation Wellness Honored Among 'Best of Davis'
A popular downtown staple is in the spotlight after earning local accolades. Bountiful Main Street announced that Soul Elevation Wellness has been officially recognized among the "Best of Davis."
The wellness center, known for its focus on relaxation and recovery, received the nod as part of the county's annual community awards. Main Street representatives celebrated the achievement online, encouraging residents to visit the local business to "relax, recharge, and elevate." 🐾 Celebrate the Little Things 🐾
Did you know enrichment doesn't have to be complicated?
Sometimes a few minutes of focused fun can make a big difference in your dog's day. Enrichment toys like Pupsicles help keep dogs mentally engaged, reduce boredom, and give them a positive outlet for their energy.
For smaller dogs, look for enrichment options designed for their size. A quick frozen treat, puzzle toy, or short training session can provide the mental workout they need without overwhelming them.
And don't forget to celebrate the little moments! Whether it's a birthday, gotcha day, finishing a training class, or simply being the good dog they are every day, small celebrations help strengthen the bond you share with your pup.
A little enrichment. A little fun. A lot of tail wags. 🐾
Need ideas for your dog? Stop by Preppy Paws Pet Supplies & Academy at 90 W 100 N in Bountiful and we'll help you find the perfect enrichment activity for your furry friend. 🐶💕
