Utah is set to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a series of cultural events. Zeniff Mejia and his dance troupe, Danza y Color Utah, will perform traditional Mexican dances at several venues, including the Tri-National Folkloric Dance Festival. Countdown to Memorial Day: Woods Cross Sets Stage for Summer with Community Event
Woods Cross is gearing up for its annual Memorial Day celebration, set to take place at Hogan Park. The event, scheduled for the holiday, May 27th will commence with a 5K run early in the morning, followed by a flag ceremony hosted by the Woods Cross Police Department and South Davis Metro Fire. A community member will deliver a patriotic program, leading into a pancake breakfast starting at 9 a.m. Attendees are invited to make a $2 donation for the breakfast, with all proceeds benefiting local community services.
The tradition of Memorial Day in Woods Cross began with a simple pancake breakfast and has grown into a comprehensive community event. Known originally as Decoration Day, Memorial Day serves as a time to remember those who have fallen in military service, typically observed by decorating graves with flowers. This event also heralds the beginning of a summer packed with activities, ranging from sports to educational classes, set to start on June 3.

βΎοΈ Viewmont High Poised for Victory with Stellar Season Performance
Viewmont High School's baseball team, the Vikings, is proving to be a formidable contender in the Region 5 baseball championships as they approach the Class 5A state tournament beginning on May 11. With a perfect 10-0 record in their region and an overall 16-3 record by the end of April, the Vikings have demonstrated both strong offensive and defensive capabilities. Their robust performance includes multiple games with high run counts, notably scoring ten or more runs in half of their first ten league games. Key players like Cal Miller and Jack Owen have contributed significantly to their successes with remarkable performances, such as striking out opponents and hitting crucial home runs. As the regular season wraps up, Viewmont looks poised to secure the top spot in Region 5 and aims for a strong performance in the upcoming state tournament.
