Floating Chairs in Farmington Spark Holiday Curiosity and Conversation

A home in east Farmington has become a local curiosity this holiday season thanks to a unique Christmas display: two chairs appearing to float in the front window. While the sight has puzzled some, neighbors say the chairs carry a deeper meaningโ€”representing a place always open and welcoming to loved ones or even strangers.

The display has sparked conversation online, with residents sharing their interpretations and memories. For one grandmother and her grandson, it turned into a touching moment theyโ€™ll remember for years. Whether symbolic or simply creative, the floating chairs have brought a little extra wonder to the neighborhood this season.

Missing Bountiful Child Safely Reunited with Parent; Father Arrested

The Bountiful Police Department has confirmed the safe recovery of a five-year-old child following a custodial interference case involving the childโ€™s non-custodial father, Benjamin Despain. The child was reported missing after not being returned from a scheduled visitation.

Concern for the child's safety led to the issuance of a protective order by Farmingtonโ€™s 2nd District Court, followed by an Endangered Missing Advisory on December 4. Investigators worked closely with the family and followed multiple leads throughout the week.

Thanks to coordinated efforts between law enforcement, the public, and media, the child was safely located and reunited with the custodial parent. Despain was arrested on December 6 and booked into the Davis County Correctional Facility. Charges are pending.

Authorities praised the community's support and the swift action of all involved in resolving the case.

Weeks After First Case, Davis County Stays Vigilant Amid Ongoing Measles Concern

A few weeks after confirming its first measles case of the year, Davis County remains on alert as health officials continue monitoring the situation. The case involved a resident who had recently traveled internationally and likely contracted the virus abroad. Despite the local case, Utahโ€™s statewide measles total remains steady at 102.

The Davis County Health Department has been conducting contact tracing and is urging residents to ensure theyโ€™re up to date on MMR vaccinations. Most cases reported in Utah this year have involved unvaccinated individuals, reinforcing concerns about immunization gaps.

Health officials continue to stress the importance of vaccination and encourage anyone with symptomsโ€”such as fever, cough, or rashโ€”to seek medical care, especially if they have recently traveled or been exposed to measles.

๐Ÿ€ Girls Basketball: Woods Cross Cruises Past Roy with Early Surge

Woods Cross powered past Roy with a dominant 58-32 victory, showcasing a fast-paced offense and disciplined defense. The Wildcats set the tone early, racing to a commanding 20-5 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looking back.

Adia Cook was instrumental in the win, lighting up the scoreboard with five shots from beyond the arc and contributing a total of 12 points. Teammate Zoe Michaelis added to the offensive surge with a team-high 14 points, keeping the pressure on Roy throughout the game.

Despite the loss, Roy saw solid efforts from Quincy Hoover and Eva Reed, who each tallied nine points to lead their team. However, the early deficit proved too steep to overcome as Woods Cross maintained control on both ends of the court.
