Locals Say Public Safety is Being Ignored as Farmington Expands
Farmington residents are voicing mounting frustration over ongoing construction projects that seem to have no end in sight. The maze of orange cones, blocked roads, and detour signs have become part of daily life, raising concerns about public safety and the city's development priorities.
One resident took to theFarmington community Facebook page this week to highlight ongoing issues at the Burke Lane and Innovator Drive intersection. Despite repeated outreach to city officials, residents say the same problems persist: malfunctioning traffic lights that have yet to be activated, a lack of pedestrian infrastructure near popular trail exits, and cars routinely ignoring stop signs.
Concerns aren’t limited to inconvenience. Many fear that the city's push to fill every available space with high-density housing and commercial complexes is outpacing its commitment to infrastructure and public safety.
Local voices are growing louder, calling for greater accountability from city leadership. Some residents are questioning whether enough input is being taken from the community, especially as developments continue to rise while basic safety upgrades lag behind.
For many, the situation has gone beyond frustration—it’s become a question of trust in city planning and leadership.

After Tragic Loss, Layton Family Forgives Driver and Seeks Support
A Layton family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of two-year-old Ada, who was struck and killed by a truck near a car wash last Friday. Her family is now speaking publicly for the first time, sharing their pain and asking for compassion during this difficult time.
According to relatives, Ada and her four-year-old sister were playing in a gated area while their mother briefly stepped away. Ada wanted to see her mom, so her sister opened the gate. As they walked hand-in-hand, a truck entered the lot and hit Ada. Despite being airlifted to the hospital, she did not survive.
The accident follows another major loss: Ada’s father passed away two years ago. Her mother, Angela, was beginning to rebuild her life when this second tragedy struck.
The family has faced hurtful comments online, but they are urging the public to withhold blame. The 18-year-old driver is not facing charges, and the family has extended forgiveness, calling the incident a tragic accident.
Ada is remembered as a sweet and deeply loved little girl. In her memory, the family has started a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses:

Utah's Summer Ranks Among Hottest and Driest on Record as Drought Deepens
Utah’s summer of 2025 was one of extremes—hot, dry, and unpredictable. It ranked as the sixth-warmest and 18th-driest on record, with most rainfall coming late in the season. August storms brought much-needed relief to some areas, even causing flooding in parts of Weber County, but much of the state stayed parched. Central counties like Summit and Sanpete saw some of their driest summers ever. The late rain helped improve mountain soil moisture, a key factor for winter water supply, but with 80% of Utah still in severe drought and reservoir levels falling fast, the state enters fall hoping for more storms to ease the strain.

🏐 Woods Cross Girls Volleyball Stays Perfect with Sweep Over Mountain Ridge
The Woods Cross Wildcats continued their stellar volleyball season with a commanding 3-0 sweep over the Mountain Ridge Sentinels, stretching their winning streak to ten straight matches. The Wildcats showed no signs of slowing down as they turned in a confident performance, exacting revenge for a previous 3-0 loss to the Sentinels in their last encounter.
Leading the charge was Avery Poulton, who delivered a powerful offensive display with 19 kills. Supporting the attack was Zamari Christensen, who kept the offense flowing with 29 assists. From the service line, Sarah Robison kept the pressure on with four aces, helping to maintain momentum throughout the match.
With this latest win, Woods Cross improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season. They have since notched another victory, a 3-0 sweep over Lone Peak on September 6. Mountain Ridge, now sitting at 12-3, bounced back quickly with a 3-1 win against Mountain View in their next match.
