Weber State Hosts Free Back-to-School Bash for K–12 Students

As the new school year approaches, families in Davis County are invited to gear up for the academic season with a vibrant Back-to-School Bash hosted at Weber State University. Taking place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade and offers a wide range of free activities and helpful resources.

Visitors can explore a dynamic resource fair, enjoy complimentary wellness services and haircuts, and indulge in delicious food. The event also provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn more about programs offered through Davis Technical College (DTC), Weber Technical College (WTC), and Weber State University (WSU).

Whether it's preparing for a successful school year or gathering valuable community support, the BTS Bash promises something for everyone.

Davis Conference Center Unveils Eco-Friendly Zero-Scape Parking Lot

The Davis Conference Center has unveiled a major upgrade to its property with the renovation of its parking lot into a beautifully designed zero-scape landscape. This eco-conscious initiative, spearheaded by Davis County, aligns with the region's growing commitment to sustainability and water conservation.

Replacing traditional grass and high-maintenance landscaping, the new design incorporates drought-tolerant plants, decorative gravel, and strategic hardscaping. These features not only enhance the visual appeal of the space but also drastically reduce water usage—a significant benefit in Utah’s arid climate.

Guests visiting the conference center will now experience a modern, environmentally-friendly setting from the moment they arrive. With this update, the center continues to lead by example in adopting practical, sustainable solutions that benefit both the community and the environment.

🔥 Campers Evacuated as Wildfire Erupts Near Mirror Lake Highway

A wildfire near Slate Creek along Mirror Lake Highway prompted evacuations on Sunday in Summit County. The fire, covering about 10 acres, is suspected to have been caused by lightning. Emergency crews quickly responded, closing parts of the highway and clearing nearby campsites. Firefighting efforts are ongoing.
