South Davis Rec Center Offers Free Water Polo Classes for Kids and Teens

BOUNTIFUL — Young athletes looking to try something new can dive into the exciting sport of water polo — for free — at the South Davis Recreation Center this month.

The center is offering two free introductory classes for boys and girls ages 9–17. Participants will learn the basics of the game, build confidence in the water, and have fun with other kids their age.

Class Schedule:

• Tuesday, August 13

  • Ages 9–14: 10:30–11:30 AM

  • Ages 15–17: 11:30 AM–12:30 PM

• Sunday, August 18

  • Ages 9–14: 7–8 PM

  • Ages 15–17: 8–9 PM

Celebrate Local Flowers with Farm Tour and Bouquet Bar in Farmington

Utah Flower Day is just around the corner, with celebrations set for Friday, August 15, at Farmington’s Three Sprouts Flower Farm. The event will open at 6:30 p.m. with a welcoming open house, followed by a guided farm tour at 6:45 p.m. Visitors will learn about favorite flower varieties, tips for growing dahlias, and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into producing high-quality blooms.

After exploring the flower fields, guests can stop by the bouquet bar, where they’ll have the option to design their own arrangement from freshly picked Utah-grown flowers. The celebration is part of a statewide observance honoring local flower farms, with additional events taking place at other locations throughout the area.

Event registration is available through the farm’s website.

High Costs Shape Utahns’ Summer Travel Choices, but Late-Season Deals Emerge

A July survey found that airfare costs, inflation, and gas prices were the main factors shaping Utahns’ summer travel decisions. Most stayed within the U.S., with many vacationing in-state. National trends show similar concerns about affordability, though lower gas prices and reduced airfare are creating opportunities for last-minute trips.

Utah Launches First Girls-Only High School Flag Football League

Utah will debut its first girls-only high school flag football league this fall, starting with teams in Salt Lake and Utah counties. Backed by the Utah High School Activities Association, the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, and local advocates, the league will run from September to October and aims to expand statewide in the future.
