🐝 We’re Still Buzzing About Kuska!

Yesterday, we introduced you to Kuska Autism Services and their incredible new space here in Bountiful. 💙 Today, we’re back with Part 2—a behind-the-scenes look at the heart and history behind the business, and how their impact stretches from right here at home all the way to Peru. Don’t miss it! 👇

🧩Kuska Autism Services — Part 2

Rooted in Bountiful. Reaching Beyond.

In yesterday’s spotlight, we introduced you to Kuska Autism Services and the life-changing work they’re doing with children and families through compassionate ABA therapy. But today, we get to pull back the curtain a little more—and share the heart behind the mission.

Owner James Stubbs moved to Bountiful in 2011 and married a Bountiful native. Now raising their five children here, the Stubbs family has planted deep roots in the community they love. In 2021, James founded Kuska Autism Services with a clear goal: to provide high-quality, individualized support to individuals with autism across the Wasatch Front.

What began with in-home and community-based therapy grew into a Draper clinic in 2022—and now, Bountiful is home to their newest space, right across from Dick’s Market at 95 E 2200 S.

From day one, Kuska has been more than just a service provider. They’ve shown up to support the causes that matter. From sponsoring local initiatives like Active with Autism (founded by fellow Bountiful local Melanie Merkley), to reaching across borders to assist Deseret del Mundo de Aby, a pediatric therapy clinic in Peru—Kuska continues to lead with heart and purpose.

🎉 Don't Miss the Celebration!

Their official Grand Opening is happening TOMORROW 👉 Wednesday, May 14 from 4:00–5:30 PM—and you're invited to be part of it. Come meet the team, tour the new space, and join in supporting a business that’s giving so much back to our community.

Bountiful Residents Share Trail Tips for a Friendlier Outdoor Experience

As warmer weather draws more people to Bountiful’s beautiful foothill trails, locals are chiming in with helpful reminders about trail etiquette and usage. A recent conversation in a community Facebook group highlighted some common confusion—especially around which trails are multi-use and which are directional or bike-specific.

One key area of discussion is the Hornet trail, which is multi-use and bi-directional, making it a popular choice for both hikers and bikers. Nearby trails like 304/305 are designated as downhill-only for bikes, with the transition point near Bridge #3, just above the water intake weir.

Some residents suggested clearer signage could help new trail users feel more confident and avoid accidental wrong-way travel. Others simply emphasized the value of friendly communication and mutual respect when sharing these outdoor spaces.

Whether on foot, bike, or walking a pup, most agree: a simple smile and a quick “hello” go a long way toward making Bountiful’s trails a welcoming place for everyone.

Birdwatchers Flock to Northern Utah for Annual Festival

The Great Salt Lake Bird Festival returns May 15–18, offering birdwatchers of all levels a chance to explore Utah’s rich bird habitats during peak migration. Set in the scenic wetlands and deserts of northern Utah, the festival features guided field trips to hotspots like Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge and Antelope Island, where attendees may spot species such as American avocets, white-faced ibises, and even bald eagles.

Events are based at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Wildlife Education Center in Farmington and include bird photography workshops, conservation talks, and family-friendly activities. Both in-person and virtual options are available, and advance registration is recommended for popular sessions.

The festival celebrates the ecological importance of the Great Salt Lake and encourages appreciation and stewardship of its birdlife.

🏐 Bountiful Boys’ Volleyball Places Fourth at State; Davis and Farmington Finish Strong

Bountiful High finished fourth at the UBVA State Tournament, leading a trio of Davis County schools with strong showings. Davis placed sixth, while Farmington claimed ninth in Division A. All three teams closed the season among Utah’s top ten, marking a standout year for boys' volleyball in the region.

Search for Missing Utah Teen Expands to Texas

The search for 15-year-old Alisa Petrov continues more than a month after her disappearance in Utah County. Authorities are expanding their investigation as new leads emerge, now involving law enforcement agencies beyond state lines.

Alisa was last seen on April 11. Initially, it was believed that she may have been trying to travel to Las Vegas. However, the focus of the investigation has since widened, with police recently enlisting assistance from a department in Texas, suggesting her possible presence or connections there.

Despite extensive efforts, including the use of local and out-of-state resources, Alisa remains missing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in helping bring her home safely.
