Standard Plumbing Revives Duerden’s with Appliance Gallery Launch

In October 2024, Duerden’s Appliance, a longstanding fixture in Bountiful since 1957, declared bankruptcy, leaving many customers without the appliances they had paid for. On December 18, 2024, the bankruptcy court approved the sale of Duerden’s assets to Standard Plumbing Supply Company, a family-owned business operating since 1952. Standard Plumbing aims to provide customers who made cash deposits with access to their appliances, provided they are part of the purchased assets. The company has already begun delivering materials, shipping approximately 900 appliances to customers, and has hired several former Duerden’s employees to facilitate the transition. The store will reopen as the Appliance Gallery, a Standard Plumbing Company, featuring live kitchen displays where customers can test appliances before purchase. Standard Plumbing guarantees the lowest prices, matching any national chain, and is committed to resolving the issues faced by Duerden’s former customers. For more information, customers can contact Richard Reese, president of Standard Plumbing, at 801-233-4090.

Davis County Officials Set Ambitious Goals for 2025

Davis County officials have outlined goals for 2025, including increased community engagement, new facilities, and personal growth initiatives. Key projects include the opening of the Western Sports Park, construction of a new Animal Services facility, and commencement of a new Bountiful Library. Officials also plan to host town halls to enhance resident engagement. Personal resolutions focus on health, gratitude, and professional development.

🏀 Bountiful, Davis, Woods Cross: How Local Teams Are Shaping Up

The local girls' basketball season is heating up as teams gear up for regional play, with Woods Cross, Bountiful, Davis, and Viewmont showing strong performances in recent matchups.

Woods Cross earned back-to-back wins, edging Davis 42-36 and narrowly defeating Weber 34-31. Key players like Ili Crockett and Grace MacArthur have been pivotal, pushing the Wildcats to a 6-3 record.

Bountiful split games, dominating Spanish Fork 58-26 but falling to Snow Canyon 62-54. Mae Johnson and Taylor Harvey continue to lead the Redhawks, who now stand at 6-2.

Davis bounced back from their loss to Woods Cross with a 51-35 victory over Roy. T’Maea Eteuati's standout performances have helped the Darts to a 5-3 record.

Viewmont secured a 59-34 win over Weber, led by Mara Mickelson's sharp shooting. With regional play around the corner, all teams are honing their skills for the challenges ahead.

Medicare Monday with
Matthew Jorgenson!

New $2,000 Cap on Prescription Drug Costs

Starting in 2025, Medicare Part D introduces a major change: a $2,000 annual out-of-pocket maximum for prescription medications.

What This Means for You:
Once you’ve spent $2,000 on covered prescription drugs, Medicare will take care of the rest for the year. This change can significantly reduce financial strain for those with high medication costs.

Tip: Review your current Part D plan to ensure it’s still the best fit for your needs in 2025, and take advantage of this new cost-saving benefit.
