Helping Kids Find Their Voice: Davis County Speech and Language Center
Communication is one of the most essential skills in life, but for many children, developing strong speech and language abilities can be a challenge. That’s where Davis County Speech and Language Center comes in—offering personalized, play-based speech therapy designed to meet each child’s unique needs.
Founded in spring 2024 by Kenna Meyer, Davis County Speech and Language Center was built on the belief that flexibility and accessibility should never be barriers to getting high-quality speech therapy. That’s why they offer sessions
in-home, in-clinic in North Salt Lake, or virtually—allowing families to choose what works best for them.
“At Davis County Speech and Language Center, we know that children learn best through play,” says Kenna. “That’s why we use engaging, evidence-based techniques to make therapy feel natural and enjoyable while building essential communication skills.”
What Sets Them Apart?
✔ Flexible Therapy Options – Choose from in-home, in-clinic, or virtual sessions.
✔ Play-Based Approach – Speech therapy should be fun! Sessions are designed to keep kids engaged while they learn.
✔ Customizable Sessions – Every session is tailored to each child’s unique needs, from duration to setting to strategy.
Celebrating One Year of Impact!
Davis County Speech and Language Center is about to celebrate its 1-year anniversary on March 9th, and they’re inviting the community to join in the fun! To thank local families for their support, they’ll be hosting a special giveaway on Instagram (@DavisCountySpeech)—be sure to follow them and stay tuned for details!
As they continue to grow, Kenna and her team are excited to expand their community involvement, including upcoming workshops for parents and caregivers and participation in local events. Their mission? To ensure every child has the support they need to develop confidence in their communication skills.

Antelope Island to Build New Visitor Center Amid Growing Popularity
Antelope Island State Park is set to construct a larger, modernized visitor center to accommodate growing crowds. The new facility will offer enhanced exhibits and improved amenities while the current visitor center remains in use for other park needs. Park officials highlight the project’s importance in educating visitors and preserving the island’s natural beauty. Funded through state and visitor-generated revenue, construction is expected to begin soon.

Protesters marched from the Utah State Capitol to Washington Square, briefly closing State Street.
A group of about 300 protesters marched through downtown Salt Lake City, briefly forcing the closure of State Street. The demonstration, which started at the Utah State Capitol and ended at Washington Square near 400 South, was accompanied by Salt Lake City police, who managed traffic control. Once the group reached their destination, State Street was reopened to vehicles.
The protesters voiced a range of concerns, including frustrations over federal worker layoffs, immigration policies, and LGBTQ+ rights, with many directing their grievances at the Trump administration. However, some emphasized that their message was also aimed at state and local leaders, urging them to take action on key issues.
This demonstration is one of several that have taken place in Salt Lake City in recent weeks, with many focusing on opposition to the current administration’s policies.

🏀 Bountiful Outlasts West, Claims Another 5A Girls’ Basketball Championship
Bountiful High School’s girls’ basketball team clinched its third straight 5A state championship, defeating West High 53-43 in a hard-fought final. The victory not only secured the Redhawks’ dynasty but also halted West’s perfect season, denying them a historic undefeated title run.
West, which entered the championship game with an unblemished record, struggled to match Bountiful’s defensive intensity. The Redhawks set the tone early, taking control in the first half and maintaining their lead through disciplined play. Despite a strong effort from West in the second half, Bountiful’s well-executed defense and clutch scoring ensured they stayed ahead.
A standout performance from Bountiful’s key players helped seal the win, with contributions across the board. The team's ability to handle pressure and execute in crucial moments proved to be the difference-maker.
With this victory, Bountiful solidifies its dominance in 5A girls’ basketball, capping off another successful season while handing West its only loss of the year.

Don’t Get Caught—How to Recognize and Stop Scams
Fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated, using tactics designed to pressure victims into quick decisions. Common red flags include urgent phone calls or texts demanding immediate action, requests for payment via gift cards or cryptocurrency, and refusal to let the victim hang up. These scams can target anyone, but individuals with savings or retirement accounts are particularly at risk.
The key to avoiding scams is staying informed. Scammers rely on manipulation, not intelligence, to deceive their victims. Being aware of the latest schemes and recognizing warning signs can make all the difference. If something feels off, trust your instincts—hang up and verify before taking action.
Staying updated through credible sources can help prevent falling victim to evolving scams. The best defense is knowledge and quick reporting. If you suspect fraud, report it immediately to help prevent others from being targeted.
