Happy Presidents’ Day!
🇺🇸 Whether you’re enjoying a day off, finding a great sale, or just soaking up a slower Monday, it’s a good moment to remember the leadership and legacy that helped shape our country.

A doctor was examining his newest patient.
As testing went on, the doctor said, “I’m not quite certain what’s wrong with you yet, but I think it
may be the result of heavy drinking.”
👉 So the patient said, “That’s ok, Doc- I’ll just come back when you’re sober!” 😂

Firefighters Prevent Major Loss After Car Ignites in Bountiful Commercial Area
The community has even more reason to be grateful for the dedicated firefighters of South Davis Metro Fire Service Area after a vehicle fire last Friday evening in Bountiful.
Just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 13, crews responded to a reported car fire in the commercial area near 500 South and 500 West. When they arrived, they found the vehicle already engulfed in flames.
Thanks to their quick thinking and teamwork, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within minutes. Their fast action prevented the flames from spreading and saved several thousand dollars’ worth of personal belongings that were inside the vehicle at the time.
Incidents like this are a powerful reminder that while emergencies can happen without warning, our local firefighters are always ready to step in. Their commitment, skill and steady presence continue to make a difference for families and businesses throughout the community.

Small aircraft incident reported near Legacy Parkway and 500 South (MP 4)
Traffic along Legacy Parkway near 500 South (milepost 4) was disrupted after what witnesses described as a small aircraft incident in the area.
A photo shared to a local community Facebook page showed emergency activity near the coordinates Legacy Parkway/SR-67 southbound at 500 South. Commenters identified the aircraft as an airplane, though some initially questioned whether it might have been a helicopter.
According to individuals commenting on the post, the pilot reportedly struck power lines while attempting to avoid traffic along the roadway. Multiple commenters indicated that no injuries were reported, and one person stated the aircraft remained upright following the incident.
Drivers traveling southbound on Legacy Parkway reported passing the scene shortly after it occurred.
Officials have not yet released formal details about the incident, and the exact circumstances remain unclear.

🏀 Layton, Davis Share Region 1 Crown, Secure Top-5 Seeds in 6A Playoffs
Layton and Davis will share the Region 1 boys basketball championship after both teams finished 6-2 in league play, with Davis’ loss to Syracuse on Friday finalizing the co-title.
When the 6A state tournament bracket was released Saturday, the rivals landed side by side among the top five seeds. Layton (16-8) earned the No. 4 seed and Davis (15-8) the No. 5 seed, with both teams receiving first-round byes.
In second-round action Feb. 20, Davis will host No. 12 Farmington, while Layton welcomes No. 13 Lehi. No. 11 Syracuse, which also secured a bye, travels to face No. 6 Mountain Ridge. Weber, seeded No. 16, hosts No. 17 Cedar Valley in the lone first-round game.
Quarterfinals through the championship will be held Feb. 25-27 at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Center.

Hopebox Theatre Honors Angela Morris as Angel Recipient During Opening Night
Hopebox Theatre honored Angela “Angie” Morris as its Angel Recipient during opening night of Singin’ in the Rain. Angie was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 lung cancer in December 2025 and began treatment soon after. Despite fighting with strength and determination, she passed away on January 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Known for her love of family, dogs, Disney cruises, and her dedicated work serving the disabled community, Angie left a lasting impact on those around her. During Thursday’s Wall of Hope ceremony, her name was added to the Hopebox Wall of Hope, ensuring her memory remains part of the Hopebox family forever.
