I was up late last night gathering stories for today's issue, and once again I found myself going down a few rabbit holes while scrolling through community pages. What starts as a quick search for a couple of updates often turns into a whole list of local happenings to share with you.
That's one of my favorite parts of putting together the Bountiful Buzz—discovering all the things going on in our community that might otherwise get missed. Of course, I'm sure there are things I miss as well, so please keep sharing your tips, events, and local happenings with me.

🩸 Give Blood, Help Local Patients This Summer
The American Red Cross is hosting two upcoming blood drives in South Davis County. Donors who give blood between June 1-28 will receive a $15 e-gift card and be entered for a chance to win one of two $7,500 gift cards. Local donation opportunities are available today in Farmington and June 15 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful.
Summer often brings blood shortages, and local donations help ensure lifesaving blood is available for patients across Utah when emergencies happen.
Local Blood Drive Dates:
📍 Farmington Oakridge Stake — June 11, 1 PM–7 PM
📍 Lakeview Hospital, Bountiful — June 15, 11 AM–5 PM
🚗 NSL Residents Get a Free Day at the Rec Center
North Salt Lake residents can enjoy a free day at the South Davis Recreation Center on June 25, 2026. Residents can access amenities including the pool, basketball courts, fitness areas, sauna, and more by showing a valid ID or utility bill with a North Salt Lake address. Some specialty services may still require an additional fee.
✈️ Hill Air Launches $1.24B Aircraft Maintenance Expansion
Hill Air Force Base has officially broken ground on a massive $1.24 billion East Campus project that will add eight new facilities supporting F-35 fighter jets and T-7A trainer aircraft. The multi-phase expansion includes maintenance hangars, repair facilities, and infrastructure upgrades, with full completion expected by 2032. Construction is expected to create jobs for local contractors, engineers, architects, and skilled trades workers. 👉 Read More
🔥 Ensign Peak Fire Burns 30+ Acres Above Salt Lake
A fast-moving brush fire burned more than 30 acres on the slopes of Ensign Peak Wednesday, sending a large smoke plume across the Salt Lake Valley and prompting evacuations near the foothills. Multiple agencies responded with ground crews and aircraft as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The cause remains under investigation.
Residents throughout Davis County may notice smoke or haze depending on wind conditions. Officials are urging the public to avoid the area and follow emergency updates. 👉 Read More

🎉 Farmington Festival Days returns July 6–11 with a full week of hometown fun, including pickleball and basketball tournaments, a classic car show, chalk art, a children's bike parade, and the popular Guns & Hoses kickball game. The Woods Cross High School Theater Department is hosting a “Heroes & Villains” themed theater camp for incoming 1st–9th graders. Future Braves cheerleaders are invited to join the Bountiful High cheer squad for the ultimate Mini Cheer experience!
