⭐️ Bountiful House of Salt

Looking for a unique way to relax, recharge, and breathe a little easier? 🌬️ Bountiful House of Salt is here to bring the magic of Himalayan salt therapy right to Davis County. Located at 2132 Orchard Drive, this local gem features two cozy and private salt therapy rooms designed to help with respiratory health and overall wellness. 🧘‍♀️💆‍♂️

Owner Jacqueline Horan was inspired to bring salt therapy to our community after discovering the amazing benefits of Himalayan salt over 14 years ago. 💡🧂 What started with a single salt lamp quickly grew into a dream to build her own salt caves. And she did just that—using 1,700 salt bricks for the walls and 750 pounds of coarse salt for the floors! 🏔️👷‍♀️

These are the first Himalayan Salt Caves in Davis County, so you no longer have to travel far to experience this relaxing and therapeutic treatment. 💨🌟 Plus, at Bountiful House of Salt, every session is private—you’ll never have to share the space with strangers, making it a peaceful and personal experience from start to finish. 🤫🛋️

In addition to salt therapy, you’ll find an incredible selection of unique salt lamps and other exclusive products—perfect for adding a little calm and wellness to your own home. 🕯️🏠

Ready to try it out? 🌈 Visit www.bountifulsaltroom.com to learn more or call (801) 682-5121 to book your private session. 📞 You can also follow them on Facebook or find them on Google Maps. 🌐

Thank you, Jacqueline, for bringing this one-of-a-kind experience to Bountiful! If you’re looking for a relaxing way to support your health, Bountiful House of Salt is the perfect spot to unwind and breathe easy. 💖💨

⁉️ Correction Notice:

In Tuesday’s Issue #419 of the Bountiful Buzz (January 21st), titled Davis Schools Launch Program to Ensure Every Student Feels Welcome, we didn’t quite get top marks for accuracy. Not only did we get Alisa Mercer’s name wrong—calling her Diane (oops!)—but we also mixed up a few other details. We deeply regret the errors and any confusion they may have caused. Below is the corrected version of the article, now with all the facts straightened out. Thank you for your understanding, and we’ll work hard to ensure future issues don’t cause any head-scratching moments!

Mercer Wants All Students to Feel Safe and Welcome at School

Alisa Mercer, newly elected to the Davis School District Board of Education, is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for students while improving accessibility for families. A mother of three with children in the district, Mercer brings years of experience in education, having served in PTAs and on community councils to address school needs.

With a background in nonprofit work, Mercer spent six years as Director of Client Services at the Bountiful Food Pantry, where she helped establish programs like the No Hunger Zone and the district’s first in-school pantry. These initiatives addressed food insecurity, a key factor in student success.

Fluent in Spanish, Mercer aims to connect with families who may feel disconnected from district resources, particularly those unfamiliar with how to access support. She also plans to host open hours in public spaces, encouraging casual conversations to better understand community concerns.

“I want every student to feel welcome and supported,” Mercer said. “Families should have the resources they need to thrive in our schools.”

Affordable Thrift and Surplus in Bountiful Announces Closure After Two Years

After two years of serving the Bountiful community, Affordable Thrift and Surplus has announced its impending closure. The store, located at 2110 Orchard Drive, will tentatively close its doors at the end of February. Grateful for the support of loyal patrons, the store team expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to their journey.

Shoppers are encouraged to use any accumulated thrift cash before the closing date, with storewide deals kicking off immediately to clear out inventory. Affordable Thrift and Surplus has been a beloved local spot for budget-friendly finds and surplus goods, and its closing marks the end of a cherished chapter for the community.

🏀 Milestone Night: Atwater’s 1,000 Points Lead Davis Past Farmington

Davis High School's boys' basketball team defeated Farmington 72-61, with senior Luke Atwater reaching the 1,000-career-point milestone. Davis pulled away in the second quarter and maintained control despite a competitive effort from Farmington. The victory strengthens Davis’ position in regional standings.

💵 Money Moves: Reset Your Financial Goals for Success

The second Friday of January, known as Quitter’s Day, has come and gone—the day when many abandon their New Year’s resolutions. If you’ve hit a wall with your financial goals, now is the perfect time to reassess, realign, and set yourself up for long-term success. Letting go of unrealistic or misaligned goals isn’t failure—it’s a step toward smarter financial habits.

Why Financial Goals Falter

Financial goals often fall short due to:

  • Unrealistic Expectations: Setting goals like saving half your paycheck overnight isn’t sustainable.

  • Lack of Planning: Goals without clear action steps feel overwhelming.

  • Misaligned Priorities: Pursuing goals that don’t reflect your values leads to frustration.

Success comes when your goals align with your life, values, and financial reality.

Reassess and Realign

Ask yourself:

  • Does this goal align with my priorities?

  • Is it realistic given my income and expenses?

  • Am I pursuing it for myself or because of external pressure?

For example, saving for a luxury purchase while neglecting an emergency fund might not be the best move. Refocusing on aligned goals can make all the difference.

Structured Goal Framework

Break your financial goals into manageable steps:

  • Short-Term (3 Days): Quick wins like tracking spending or transferring a small amount to savings.

  • Mid-Term (3 Weeks): Build habits like sticking to a weekly budget or paying off a small debt.

  • Long-Term (3 Months or More): Tackle milestones like growing an emergency fund or reducing debt significantly.

Tips for Success

  • Set realistic goals that reflect your current situation.

  • Celebrate progress to maintain motivation.

  • Adjust your goals as your priorities evolve.

  • Share your plans with someone who can keep you accountable.

Even if Quitter’s Day set you back, now is the time to refocus and create lasting financial habits. A fresh start is always possible!
