USU’s Annual Physics Day Turns Lagoon into a Giant Classroom for 8,000 Students
USU’s Physics Day at Lagoon brings STEM learning to life with interactive activities and rides for 8,000 students. Led by USU alumna and event coordinator Bethany Enger Cheney, the event mixes amusement with science, from calculating roller coaster G-forces to conducting new electromagnetics experiments.
Letter Carriers to Collect Food Donations Across Utah This Saturday
The "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive, an initiative backed by the Utah Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers, is set for May 11th. This drive, which marks its 32nd year, aims to address food insecurity among Utahns, with special emphasis on helping children as summer approaches. Residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes for collection. Donations will support local food pantries, and volunteering opportunities are available to assist with sorting and distributing the collected food.
Utah High School Sports to See Major Changes in Student Athlete Eligibility
Utah's high school sports landscape is set to experience major reforms with the introduction of new guidelines affecting international and transferring students. The Utah High School Activities Association has approved proposals designed to simplify the transfer process and curb the controversial recruitment practices involving international students at private schools. New rules will render students on F1 visas ineligible for varsity sports unless specific exceptions apply, and transferring students will face a temporary ineligibility. These changes reflect an ongoing effort to maintain fairness and integrity within the state's high school sports system.
