Nightly I-15 Lane Closures Planned in Davis County for Pedestrian Bridge Work
Drivers traveling through Davis County should prepare for nightly lane closures along I-15 as construction crews carry out work on a pedestrian bridge. From Monday, February 2, through Friday, February 6, up to three lanes in both directions of I-15 will be closed each night between the Glovers Lane overpass and North Station Lane in Farmington.
The lane restrictions will begin as early as 9 p.m. each night and wrap up by 7 a.m. the following morning. The closures are part of ongoing improvements associated with the Shepard Lane Interchange project. Commuters are advised to plan for minor delays and use caution when driving through the area during nighttime hours.

🌟 Bountiful Nostalgia Alert! 🎸
I love seeing the kind of posts that bring our community together—and this one has definitely struck a chord (pun intended 😉)!
Someone recently posted a photo of the old building with the guitar sign on 425 West and asked if anyone knew the story behind it. And WOW—did the memories come flooding in!
From Discount Music to drum lessons, first guitars, apartment rentals, and even the tale of a shed being rolled down 500 South (!!), the stories are rich with Bountiful history. It’s amazing to see how one little building can hold so many memories for so many people.
Some folks remember Craig working on carburetors at the front counter, others talked about Brett and how iconic that neon guitar sign became. Several of you even lived in the basement! 💭✨
There’s talk about whether the building (which sadly sits empty now) might be torn down for commercial development in the future. But for now, it’s sparking some beautiful conversations and nostalgia.

Two Pulled from Reservoir After Falling Through Thin Ice
Two people were rescued from Mantua Reservoir on Friday after falling through thin ice. Emergency crews, including deputies, fire, and medical responders, acted quickly to pull them from the freezing water. Both were treated at the scene and taken to a hospital for further care.
The incident has sparked community concern, especially with Utah’s unseasonably warm winter. Locals noted that ice conditions have been unreliable, with some reservoirs showing more open water than solid ice. Even experienced ice fishers are steering clear this season.
Authorities are reminding the public that ice may look solid but can be dangerously thin. With temperatures staying mild, venturing onto frozen lakes is a growing risk.

Top 5 Finishes for Farmington, Bountiful, and Viewmont at State Drill Championships
Utah's high school drill state championships brought intensity, emotion, and precision to the floor, with Davis County teams leaving a strong mark across both 6A and 5A divisions.
In 6A, Farmington High School captured its third consecutive state title, solidifying its dynasty status despite a season of major changes and a largely new team. The Phoenix took top honors in the military and dance categories, delivering clean formations and captivating routines. They edged out Bingham and Davis to secure the title, followed by Corner Canyon and Layton.
The 6A final standings overall were:
Farmington
Bingham
Davis
Corner Canyon
Layton
In the 5A competition, Pleasant Grove made history by winning its first-ever state drill championship, thanks to standout performances in the dance and show categories. They narrowly outscored strong programs including Bountiful, which claimed second place overall. Spanish Fork, Viewmont, and West Field rounded out the top five.
The 5A final standings overall were:
Pleasant Grove
Bountiful
Spanish Fork
Viewmont
West Field
Local teams from Viewmont and Woods Cross also impressed in 5A, each delivering high-energy routines that demonstrated their technical skill and creative flair. With Bountiful and Viewmont both finishing in the top four, Davis County proved once again to be a powerhouse in Utah drill.
The UVU UCCU Center hosted the event, with packed stands and spirited student sections cheering on every beat and formation. As the season concludes, the commitment and excellence of these athletes leave a lasting impact on the high school drill scene.
