Festive Glow Returns to Temple Square: Christmas Lights Shine Through Construction
Temple Square in Salt Lake City will continue its long-standing Christmas tradition of illuminating the area with festive lights despite ongoing construction. Starting this Friday, the lights will be on display daily until New Year's Day, with certain areas of Temple Square remaining accessible to visitors. The event will also include free concerts at the Tabernacle, featuring various artists.
💞A Journey of Service: The Enduring Spirit of Farmington’s Kris Johnson
Kris Johnson, a Farmington resident, has spent 20 years performing daily acts of service, such as picking up trash during her walks between Farmington and Centerville. Her journey is both a spiritual practice and a way to connect with others. Eighteen years ago, Johnson suffered from shingles and severe encephalitis, which impacted her short-term memory but didn't shake her faith. She often shares religious songs and scriptures, with a special fondness for the Latter-day Saint song "A Child's Prayer." Her daughter, Mindee Hoopes, highlights Johnson's deep love for her family and community, evident in her selfless acts like delivering newspapers and weeding neighbors' gardens. Hoopes is thankful for the community's support for her mother.

Black Friday Alert: Salt Lake City Braces for Uptick in Organized Retail Theft
As Black Friday approaches, Salt Lake City is on high alert for organized retail crime. Special Agent Steve Jensen from the Utah Attorney General’s Task Force notes an uptick in thefts during the holiday season, with small businesses being particularly vulnerable. Tom Sobieski, owner of iconoCLAD, highlights the significant impact of these thefts on small businesses, contrasting with the better-equipped large retail chains. The task force is intensifying efforts by collaborating with local law enforcement and retailers to monitor hot spots. Meanwhile, businesses like iconoCLAD are taking additional security measures, including using social media to combat theft. The public is encouraged to report any thefts, while prioritizing their own safety.
