Welcoming Little Minds to a World of Learning
Nestled in the heart of Bountiful, Utah, at 198 East 2200 South, Birdhouse Preschool stands as a beacon of early childhood education. Alby Jackson, a former substitute teacher and the heart and soul behind this vibrant learning hub, has dedicated 19 years to nurturing young minds. As a parent to five and grandparent to twenty, Alby's life is steeped in the joy and challenge of child-rearing, something that shines through in every aspect of Birdhouse Preschool.
From Inspiration to Institution
Alby's journey began in a local elementary school, where a stint as a substitute teacher for 1st grade revealed a gap in foundational skills among students. This observation sparked a desire to make a difference. Encouraged by friends and propelled by a fortuitous opportunity to take over a neighborhood preschool, Alby stepped into the world of early education, and Birdhouse Preschool was born.
A Home for Growth and Learning
Birdhouse Preschool operates on a schedule designed to balance learning and life. Open Tuesday through Thursday, the preschool aligns with the Davis School District holiday schedule for convenience. Catering to both three and four-year-olds, the preschool offers morning and afternoon classes, ensuring personalized attention with a cap of 12 students per class. Alby, along with her oldest daughter who joins weekly for science projects, creates a nurturing and engaging environment.
Cultivating Curiosity and Kindness
In the three-year-old class, the focus is on recognition – letters, colors, shapes, and numbers. More than academics, it's about social skills: manners, sharing, cooperation, along with art and music. The four-year-old class transitions smoothly into kindergarten readiness, eschewing electronics for hands-on, experiential learning. The philosophy is simple yet profound: let kids be kids, learning joyfully.
A Space for Fun and Safety
The preschool boasts both an outdoor playground, securely fenced, and an indoor play area, ensuring safety and fun in equal measure. Alby's approach balances structured learning with the freedom to explore and play, embodying her belief in learning through fun.
Open Doors and Open Hearts
Birdhouse Preschool is more than just a school; it's a community.
Alby welcomes parents to visit, call, or email for more information, including tuition details and referrals. With her warm invitation to explore what Birdhouse Preschool offers, Alby continues to light the path of early education in the Bountiful Area.

Roofing Repair Gone Wrong: A Bountiful Homeowner's Quest for Resolution
After moving into his Bountiful home, Daniel Reeder discovered a problem with his roof's synthetic membrane, leading him to hire a roofing company for repairs. Despite a costly fix and a 10-year warranty, the roof continued to show issues. Struggling to get assistance from the company's unresponsive sales rep, Reeder sought help from KSL Investigators. The company owner acknowledged communication failures and rectified the situation without invoking the warranty, highlighting the importance of direct communication with a business's main office for quicker issue resolution.

Retail Theft Blitz in Utah Results in Multiple Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Merchandise
The recent "Operation Holiday Steals" in Salt Lake City led to the arrest of 28 people, addressing the issue of holiday season shoplifting. The operation, conducted by the Utah Attorney General's task force, recovered $12,000 in stolen goods from various retailers. Among the arrested were individuals involved in organized retail theft and other crimes. Local police departments and other agencies collaborated in this significant anti-theft initiative, emphasizing community and business safety.

Utah Sees Steady Growth: 56,000 Newcomers Call The State Home
Utah's population grew by nearly 56,000 in 2023, primarily through net migration, showing a slight slowdown compared to previous years. This trend suggests a return to pre-pandemic growth patterns. While all counties except Carbon and Wayne saw increases, Utah and Salt Lake counties led in absolute growth. Net migration was the main growth driver in most counties, while a decrease in deaths contributed to the natural increase. Utah County, in particular, has been a significant growth area since 2015. The reasons behind the growth in some rural counties like Piute and Daggett remain unclear.
