Excessive Force Lawsuit Filed Against Bountiful Police by Injured Woman

In Bountiful, Utah, a woman in her 60s has filed a lawsuit against the local police department following an incident where an officer allegedly punched her in the face, resulting in a broken jaw. The confrontation, captured on body camera footage, occurred after police responded to a call about a potential disturbance involving the woman and her ex-husband. Despite both parties confirming that no conflict was present, an altercation ensued when the officer and the woman, Gretta Jensen, disagreed, leading to Jensen being tackled and punched by the officer. The incident has sparked discussions on police conduct and the use of force, with former police chief Chris Burbank criticizing the actions as indicative of broader systemic issues within law enforcement in Utah. Charges against Jensen were later dismissed, and she is now seeking legal action against the Bountiful Police Department.

The Stage of Hope: How Performing Arts Aid in Cancer Fight

The story revolves around Jan Williams and the Hopebox Theatre in Kaysville, recognized for its mission to support families facing cancer through performing arts. Williams, a four-time cancer survivor, founded the theatre inspired by her own journey and the solace she found in music and performance. The theater nominates community members battling cancer as recipients of their support, integrating them into their shows. Co-founder Curtis Dalton, moved by Williams' vision and his personal loss to cancer, joined the initiative, contributing to its growth. The article highlights the community's involvement and the theater's impact, emphasizing the healing power of art and the collective effort in making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

Utah Family Honors Loved One with Foundation to Support Homeless

Following a heart-wrenching loss, a Utah family has channeled their grief into a force for good by starting a foundation in honor of Ben Kerbs, who tragically drowned in Puerto Rico. The foundation focuses on providing food and warm clothing to the homeless, a mission inspired by Kerbs' own values of kindness and service. Spearheaded by Kerbs' sister, Candace Yocum, and his daughter, Emily Butler, the initiative operates from a parking lot, offering not just physical aid but also a sense of community to those in need. This charitable effort, named BK Outreach, collaborates with other organizations to broaden its impact, continuing Kerbs' legacy of helping others.

🏀 Bountiful Boys Triumph in Region 5 Basketball, Set Sights on State Glory

Bountiful Boys Basketball team won the Region 5 title and entered the Class 5A state tournament as the sixth seed. They demonstrated a strong finish to the season with a significant victory over Woods Cross. Other local teams, including Viewmont, Woods Cross, Davis, and Farmington, faced various outcomes in their respective journeys, highlighting the competitive spirit of high school basketball in the region.

🤼‍♂️ Viewmont and Woods Cross Shine at State Wrestling Championships

At the Class 5A state wrestling tournament, Woods Cross' Cash Henderson won his third straight 215-pound title, leading his team to an eighth-place finish, while Viewmont placed fifth with strong individual performances across multiple weight classes.
