Local Graduating Seniors Inspire Young Students During Cap-and-Gown Walk

Graduation week in the Davis School District began with a heartfelt tradition that brought seniors back to where their educational journeys first began. Donning caps and gowns, members of the Class of 2025 returned to their former elementary schools to walk the halls one last timeโ€”this time as role models.

The visit turned into a joyous celebration, as elementary students lined the corridors with handmade signs, offering high-fives and cheers to the graduating seniors. The moment served as both a nostalgic reflection and a source of inspiration for younger students, who witnessed firsthand the potential that lies ahead in their own educational paths.

This full-circle celebration marks the beginning of a week dedicated to honoring the achievements of the Class of 2025. With commencement ceremonies just around the corner, the district is turning its attention to the bright futures of these soon-to-be graduates.

Free Virtual Classes Help Parents Tackle Tough Topics with Kids

Safe Harbor is kicking off a new round of its free Educated Parents program starting June 24. Held virtually, the course helps caregivers navigate sensitive topics like body safety, child abuse prevention, and healthy teen relationships.

Two age-specific tracks are available. For parents of children ages 0โ€“9, a three-week course based on Sapreaโ€™s curriculum focuses on body safety and preventing child sexual abuse. For those with children ages 10โ€“14, a six-week program using the CDC-approved Dating Matters curriculum addresses teen relationships and communication.

Both groups meet weekly online, and registration is required. To sign up, contact Abbie Webb at [email protected] or call 385-515-4025.

๐ŸŽ Classroom Campaign Leads to Quieter Hallways Thanks to Local Business Support

Fourth-graders at Central Elementary School in Utah successfully campaigned for quieter hand dryers after the loud noise began disrupting classes and affecting students with special needs. By writing persuasive essays and reaching out to local businesses, they secured a donation from Chariot Plumbing Supply and Design, who will install new dryers before the school year ends. The student-led initiative not only improved their learning environment but also inspired broader conversations about school infrastructure standards.

The oldest of five children, Roman comes from a family deeply rooted in serviceโ€”his dad is a police officer, his mom, Lesli, is a volunteer sports photographer at local games, and Roman himself coaches little league football.

To know Roman is to love him. The family has given so much to our community, and now they could use our help more than ever.
