This week, our Local Spotlight veers from its usual focus on businesses to shine a light on a unique cultural event that promises to enrich our community in an exciting new way. "The Robinhood Experience," brought to life by the talented students and faculty of Woods Cross High School's Theatre Department, is not just a play; it's an interactive adventure that draws the audience directly into the heart of the legendary tale of Robin Hood. Set for April 18th and 19th, this production is a testament to the creativity and dedication thriving in our local schools and offers a perfect opportunity for a family night out that's both entertaining and immersive. Join us in supporting these young performers and experiencing storytelling at its most engaging.

The Robin Hood Experience: A Theatrical Adventure at Woods Cross High School
Step into the world of archery, heroics, and heart in "The Robin Hood Experience," a truly unique theatrical production presented by the talented students of Woods Cross High School. Scheduled for April 18th and 19th at 7:00 PM, this play promises to immerse audiences in the legendary tale of Robin Hood like never before.
Directed by Liz Christensen, the Woods Cross Theatre Department's production is not just a play; it's an interactive experience that places the audience at the very heart of the action. During my visit, I was thrilled to witness firsthand the students' commitment and passion, which Director Christensen skillfully hones. The set is designed to envelop you, making you feel like you're stepping into Sherwood Forest itself.
Interactive and Engaging
One of the most exciting aspects of this production is its interactive nature. Audiences aren't just spectators; they're participants. Whether you're learning the basics of archery or interacting directly with the characters, you're an integral part of the story unfolding on stage.

Meet the Cast
The cast, comprised of dedicated students, shared some insights into their roles and the preparation process. Each actor has uniquely connected with their character, from embodying the noble traits of Maid Marian to the cunning of Prince John. For instance, one sophomore, playing the Lady in waiting to Maid Marian, explored her role with the adaptability of a chameleon, while another found the regal yet lazy strut of a lion to enhance his portrayal of King Richard.
Memorable Moments to Look For
From thrilling fight scenes to poignant moments of drama, there are numerous highlights to anticipate. One such scene involves a high-stakes confrontation between Prince John and King Richard, expected to leave the audience in stitches. Another must-see is the climactic battle where the skill and camaraderie of the characters shine through, making it a spectacle of choreography and storytelling.
Behind the Scenes
The production is a collaborative effort, with students also taking part in behind-the-scenes roles, learning about set construction, costume design, and the dynamics of interactive theatre. This hands-on approach has not only enhanced their theatrical skills but also fostered a strong sense of community among the cast and crew.
A Message from the Cast and Director
The overarching hope from the students and their director is that the audience leaves with a memorable experience that ignites a greater appreciation for the arts and interactive theatre. This production is more than just entertainment; it's an opportunity to experience the timeless story of Robin Hood in a novel and engaging way.

Join the Adventure
Don't miss out on this innovative theatrical experience. To secure your seats, visit here. As Director Christensen eloquently put it, supporting local theatre is crucial: "The audience is an essential part of theatreβwe can't make theatre without them."
Prepare to be part of a story, engage with captivating characters, and perhaps take a little piece of Sherwood Forest home with you. This isn't just a play; it's "The Robin Hood Experience."

Foundation Established in Fallen Officerβs Name Provides Essential Equipment to Local Police
The Centerville Police Department recently acknowledged a significant contribution from the Jason W. Read Foundation. This charitable organization, named in honor of Officer Jason W. Read who died in the line of duty in 2018, has made a donation to fund the purchase of bullet-resistant shields for the department. These shields are expected to significantly enhance the safety of both the officers and the community they protect. The gesture not only bolsters the department's capabilities but also serves as a tribute to Officer Read's legacy, which continues to influence and inspire community safety initiatives.

Celebrating the Heart of Our Schools: Davis District Honors School Librarians
During National Library Week, Davis School District celebrated the pivotal roles of school librarians, highlighting Lenae Kirkman and Julie Lundell of Clinton Elementary, and Stephanie Mackay of Shoreline Junior High. They emphasized libraries as places of joy, learning, and belonging, vital for student development.

Davis County Mom Conquers All Major World Marathons, Enters Hall of Fame
Kristin Leger, a mother from Davis County, Utah, recently completed the 2024 Tokyo Marathon, achieving her long-standing goal of finishing all six major world marathons. This feat also earned her a place in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Hall of Fame. Leger's journey began over two decades ago and was motivated by her transition into motherhood and her need for a mental and physical outlet. Despite sometimes struggling to start her runs, she never regrets them once finished. Her marathon efforts have taken her across the globe, creating connections with diverse people through the shared passion for running.

βMedicare Bewareβ Weekly Expert Tip:
Medicare Beware: Guard Against Scam Calls
In this week's Medicare Beware series, we're alerting you to a common yet dangerous scam targeting Medicare beneficiariesβunsolicited computer-generated calls. Scammers often use these robocalls to pose as Medicare representatives, hoping to steal your private information.
Hereβs what you need to know:
- Medicare will not call you unexpectedly. True Medicare representatives will never contact you for your Medicare Number or other personal information unless youβve given them permission in advance. Any call that asks for this information is a scam.
- Hang up immediately. If you receive an unsolicited call from someone claiming to be from Medicare, hang up right away. Do not engage with the caller, and never disclose any personal or financial information.
- Verify through official channels. If you suspect the call may be legitimate, or if you simply need assistance, hang up and call Medicare directly using the customer service number found on your Medicare card or the official Medicare website.
By staying vigilant and informed, you can protect yourself from these deceitful tactics and ensure your personal information stays secure.
