From Food Pantry to Full Support: The Evolution of Teen Centers in Davis District
The "Souper Bowl of Caring" initiative at Northridge High School has evolved into a network of teen centers offering comprehensive support to students, including food, housing assistance, and a supportive environment. This growth reflects the community's dedication to linking basic needs with academic success and the belief in the power of caring adults to change lives. The initiative, supported by the David Education Foundation and the community, is seen as a model for nationwide adoption, emphasizing the importance of student well-being for academic achievement.
Bountiful Officer in Hot Water:
$1 Million Lawsuit for Punching 64-Year-Old
A lawsuit has emerged involving a Bountiful police officer, Cpl. Jon Joubert, accused of using excessive force during the arrest of 64-year-old Gretta Jensen in December 2020. Jensen alleges Joubert punched her, causing severe injuries including a broken jaw. Following an internal review, Joubert was reprimanded and underwent additional training. Jensen seeks $1 million in damages, attorney fees, and punitive damages for her ordeal.

Last Call for Veterans' Names to Be Enshrined at Bountiful Veterans Park
In a recent announcement from the Bountiful Veterans Park, community members have been called upon to submit the names of local veterans to be honored on the park's commemorative walls. The submission deadline is rapidly approaching, with March 1, 2024, marked as the final day for entries. This initiative is open to both former and active duty servicemen and women, whether they are living or have passed away, provided they hail from Bountiful, West Bountiful, Centerville, North Salt Lake, and Woods Cross.
The park aims to recognize and pay tribute to the brave individuals who have served their country, filling the blank spaces on its walls with the names of those who have dedicated themselves to military service. In order to facilitate the submission process, an online form has been made available at the park's official website, www.BountifulVeteransPark.org.
This gesture of remembrance and honor is not just limited to Bountiful but extends to all cities within south Davis County, reinforcing the community's collective respect and gratitude towards its veterans. As the deadline swiftly approaches, the park's administrators urge the public to ensure that no eligible veteran from the area misses the opportunity to be acknowledged in this significant manner.

Despite challenges in scoring depth, Bountiful's potential for strategic victories makes them a team to watch in the championship race. The Alta Hawks, meanwhile, have emerged as the unexpected dark horse, setting the stage for an exciting tournament showdown.
