Station Park Kids Invited to Join Free Summer Book Challenge

Families in the Station Park area can kick off a summer of literary adventure as Barnes & Noble rolls out its annual Summer Reading Program. Aimed at encouraging young readers to dive into books during the school break, the program offers a fun incentive: a free book for kids who complete a simple reading challenge.

To participate, children can pick up a Summer Reading Journal at the Barnes & Noble location in Station Park. The task is to read any eight books of their choice and briefly write about each one in the journal. Once completed, starting July 1st, readers can return the filled-out journal to the store and choose a free book from a special list provided in the journal.

The program is designed to foster a love of reading and to keep young minds active over the summer months. Parents are encouraged to visit the store early to grab a journal and get their children started on the challenge.

Hopebox Theatre Brings “Matilda” to Life in Kaysville, Benefiting Local Cancer Fighter

Kaysville is set to experience a whirlwind of magic, mischief, and meaningful support this July as Hopebox Theatre presents Matilda: The Musical as the official Kaysville City Musical. The production, running from July 4 through July 15 at the Davis High School auditorium, is more than just a theatrical event—it's a heartfelt fundraiser for local resident Sarah Bywater, who is currently battling cancer.

Based on the beloved Roald Dahl classic, Matilda tells the story of a brilliant young girl with a vivid imagination and unyielding spirit, determined to stand up against injustice and find her own voice. Audiences can expect an energetic, family-friendly performance filled with song, dance, and the empowering “smell of rebellion.”

Hopebox Theatre, known for pairing inspiring productions with community causes, invites theatergoers of all ages to experience the joy of live performance while supporting a meaningful cause. Tickets are available online now, with proceeds contributing to Sarah Bywater’s medical journey.

Miracle on I-15: Multi-Car Crash Ends with Only Minor Injuries

A serious multi-vehicle crash on southbound I-15 in Kaysville led to a dramatic scene, yet remarkably resulted in only minor injuries for those involved. The collision was triggered by traffic slowing due to a dirt spill further up the highway.

Among the vehicles impacted, one ended up pinned beneath a semitruck while another overturned. Despite the violent nature of the crash, emergency crews reported that all four individuals involved sustained only minor injuries. Traffic was backed up for several miles as responders cleared the scene and investigated the incident.

Authorities are continuing to assess the factors contributing to the crash and have reminded drivers to stay alert in changing road conditions, especially when debris or spills are reported ahead.

No child should go hungry during the summer! From June 2 to July 23, the Davis School District is offering free weekday lunches (Monday–Thursday) for all children ages 1–18 at 15 locations through the Seamless Summer Lunch Program.
