๐ŸŽจ New Mural Grants Open in Davis County

The Quick Summary: Discover Davis has opened applications for its 2026 Mural Grant program, offering artists, businesses, and cities a chance to team up on new public art projects across Davis County. Selected projects can receive a 50/50 funding match of up to $10,000 to help expand the countyโ€™s growing mural tour. Past mural projects include installations in Bountiful, North Salt Lake, Farmington, and Clearfield.

Why It Matters: More public art means stronger community identity, beautified local spaces, and another boost for South Davis cities looking to attract visitors and support local businesses.

๐Ÿ’ง Hold Off on the Sprinklers (For Now)

The Quick Summary: Utah water officials say recent rain and cooler temperatures mean most lawns along the Wasatch Front donโ€™t need full sprinkler systems running yet. Homeowners are encouraged to spot-water dry patches by hand and focus instead on improving soil health through aeration or composting. Waiting a little longer can help grass grow deeper roots and better handle summer heat.

Why It Matters: Delaying sprinkler use now can save water, lower utility bills, and help South Davis lawns stay healthier during peak summer drought conditions.

๐Ÿšจ Missing Teen Reported in South Salt Lake

The Quick Summary: South Salt Lake Police are searching for 14-year-old Ava Coggins, who was last seen Sunday morning near 3600 South and West Temple. Police say she was wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweatpants and is considered a runaway. Anyone with information is asked to call dispatch and reference case number LK2026-12343.

Why It Matters: While outside the South Davis corridor, missing child alerts can quickly spread across nearby communities as families travel throughout the Wasatch Front.

โšพ Farmington Powers Past Syracuse in Region 1 Battle

Farmington rolled to a 16-6 win over Syracuse in Region 1 play after big scoring bursts in the third and sixth innings. Zach Hecht picked up the win on the mound with four strikeouts, while Tanner Madsen went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the offense. Syracuse stayed competitive with a five-run third inning, but Farmington kept the pressure on at the plate.

Why It Matters: Farmington continues to build momentum in Region 1 play as local teams battle for playoff positioning.
