Bountiful Unveils Mahogany Ridge Trail, A New Favorite for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Bountiful's trail system just got a major upgrade with the debut of the Mahogany Ridge Trail—a freshly carved route through the North Canyon area that's already drawing attention across the state. Outdoor lovers can now explore this dynamic trail, which offers a scenic and well-planned addition to the existing Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST) and Mueller Park networks.

Designed for non-motorized users, Mahogany Ridge is built to accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners alike. The trail traverses diverse terrain, weaving through shaded woods and open ridgelines, and introduces new loop options that elevate the entire Bountiful trail experience.

CenterPoint’s Second Stage Reopens with Upgraded Features

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre in Centerville has reopened its Second Stage after a significant renovation aimed at enhancing both audience and performer experiences. The revamped space now includes better acoustics, improved lighting, expanded seating, and upgraded backstage areas.

Designed with input from local creatives, the renovation supports a broader range of performances and encourages artistic experimentation. As a key part of CenterPoint’s mission to nurture local talent, the improved venue offers a more flexible and professional environment for smaller, innovative productions.

Overnight 1-15 closures for Bridge Demo

Utah Camper Survives Black Bear Attack in Manti Canyon

A Utah man is recovering after being attacked by a black bear while camping in Manti Canyon over the weekend. The man was sleeping in a hammock near a dispersed campsite when the bear bit and clawed him, causing injuries to his upper body.

He managed to fight off the animal and call for help. Wildlife officials located the bear still near the site and euthanized it to prevent further danger. A necropsy will be conducted to learn more about the bear’s condition. Officials noted the animal had not been tagged or previously identified as a threat.

Bear attacks in Utah are rare, but wildlife experts are reminding the public to stay alert, store food securely, and follow bear safety practices while camping or hiking. The man is expected to make a full recovery.

No child should go hungry during the summer! From June 2 to July 23, the Davis School District is offering free weekday lunches (Monday–Thursday) for all children ages 1–18 at 15 locations through the Seamless Summer Lunch Program.
