๐ฅ Statewide Fireworks Ban Issued for July 4
Gov. Spencer Cox has declared a temporary statewide ban on personal fireworks ahead of Independence Day due to extreme wildfire conditions across Utah. Local governments may still designate approved areas where fireworks can be used safely, but the default is now a statewide prohibition. Officials say this year's drought, low snowpack, high winds, and multiple large human-caused fires created an unprecedented fire risk.
South Davis residents should check with their city before making Fourth of July plans, as local celebrations and personal fireworks use could look very different this year. ๐ Read More

๐ Orchard Drive Arctic Circle Marks One Year Since Reopening
The Orchard Drive Arctic Circle is celebrating one year since reopening in Bountiful. Owner Britani Poulsen thanked the community for its support, especially local families and schools that have participated in spirit nights and community events throughout the year. Residents in the comments shared everything from favorite memories and compliments about the remodeled restaurant to the friendly debates that only happen around a true local institution.
Whether it's a stop for a lime rickey, a post-game meal, or a school fundraiser, local gathering spots like this help keep community traditions alive.

๐ฅ What Was That Midnight Boom That Shook Bountiful?
Residents across Bountiful, North Salt Lake, and even parts of Centerville are still trying to solve a late-night mystery after a loud boom around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning reportedly rattled homes and woke neighbors.
Dozens of comments on Nextdoor described hearing an explosion-like sound, feeling their houses shake, and even seeing flashes of light. Some neighbors initially wondered if it could have been a plane, while others checked security camerasโonly to find nothing unusual.
One theory points to a hit-and-run crash in North Salt Lake involving a vehicle striking a signal pole or parked car. Others believe a fire at an RV park near Center Street may have been connected. Still, many residents remain skeptical that either incident could have caused vibrations felt miles away.
As of now, no official explanation has surfaced, leaving the "Great Midnight Boom of 2026" as the latest local mystery keeping neighbors talking.
