🏙️ North Salt Lake Could Take Big Step Toward Creating a True “Downtown”

North Salt Lake’s vision for a more recognizable downtown could move another step forward tonight.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on proposed Town Center Urban Design Standards that would guide future development and redevelopment in the area.

The proposal divides the Town Center into five distinct areas and sets standards for building types, streetscapes, landscaping, signs and land uses — all aimed at creating a more walkable, vibrant center with a stronger identity.

Residents can attend tonight’s hearing and weigh in before the proposal moves further through the approval process.

Tuesday, Aug. 25 | 6:30 p.m. | North Salt Lake City Hall, 10 E. Center Street

☕ 🎓 Bountiful High Opens New Career Training Building

Bountiful High students have a brand-new space to prepare for life after graduation.

The school officially opened its new 39,552-square-foot, three-story Career and Technical Education building on Aug. 19, expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in career-focused programs.

The new facility will support courses in areas including automotive, interior design, accounting, medical anatomy and physiology, along with additional career and technical programs.

The project was funded through Davis School District’s voter-approved 2022 Building Generations bond and is designed to give students more opportunities to build practical skills while still in high school.

It’s a major upgrade for Bountiful High — and another step toward helping students explore possible careers before they graduate.

⚽ Viewmont Falls 1-0 to Woods Cross

A first-half goal from Lillian Atkin proved to be the difference as Woods Cross shut out Viewmont in Region 6 action. The Wildcats held the Vikings scoreless to secure the road win.

⚽ Bountiful Pulls Away for 5-1 Win

Bountiful broke open a 1-1 halftime tie with four second-half goals to beat Alta in Region 6 play. Myka Page and Jane Hellewell scored twice each, while Natalie Coulam added the other goal and four Redhawks recorded assists.

🐾 This week’s Bountiful Pup of the Week is the happy-go-lucky Snoopy! 💙🐶

Snoopy loves getting out for walks, playing around the house and spending time with his brother, Remy — last week’s Pup of the Week! These two are quite the pair and always seem to find a way to have fun together.

And apparently good taste runs in the family, because just like Remy, Snoopy’s favorite treat is turkey jerky! 🦃

But Snoopy has one very funny little habit that makes him especially lovable: when cuddle time arrives, he wants all the attention for himself. 😂 He’ll stretch himself right across his human so Remy can’t sneak in and steal any of the snuggles.

A little possessive? Maybe. Completely adorable? Absolutely. 💙

Thanks for keeping everyone smiling, Snoopy! We’re so happy to have you as part of the Scenthound Bountiful family.🐾

Think your pup should be our next Bountiful Pup of the Week? Send Scenthound Bountiful a DM with a photo, your pup’s name and a few fun facts — we’d love to feature them!

☀️ Janet’s Sunshine Cafe Fighting to Stay Open

North Salt Lake favorite Janet’s Sunshine Cafe says it needs $35,364 by Aug. 31 to cover building rent or the restaurant could close permanently. A GoFundMe organized by the cafe has been launched to help keep the doors open.

Janet Barmore, a Bountiful native, opened the 37-seat cafe in 2005, building a loyal following around scratch-made breakfasts, lunches, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. The fundraiser says steps have also been taken to help prevent the financial situation from happening again.

After more than 20 years in North Salt Lake, the cafe’s possible closure would mean losing a longtime local gathering spot and small business. 👉 GoFundMe Link
