Spring Cleaning? Remember, Park Dumpsters Are Not for Personal Trash
As spring approaches, it’s a good time to remember that keeping our parks clean is a responsibility we all share in the communities where we live. In Farmington, the Parks & Recreation Department is reminding residents that park dumpsters are strictly for park-related waste and should not be used for personal trash.
Unauthorized dumping has been an ongoing issue, leading to overflowing bins and extra cleanup efforts by park staff. To keep public spaces clean and enjoyable for everyone, officials ask the community to use proper waste disposal methods, such as curbside pickup or local waste facilities, for personal trash.
By following these guidelines, residents can help ensure that Farmington’s parks remain beautiful and welcoming for all visitors. The Parks & Recreation Department appreciates the community’s cooperation in preserving these outdoor spaces.

Congratulations to the Winners of the 10th Annual NSL Reads Short Story Contest!
What a night! The City of North Salt Lake recently celebrated the winners of its 10th Annual NSL Reads Short Story Contest, and we couldn’t be more excited for these talented storytellers. This year’s theme, "Imagine a World with No Books," was inspired by The Legend of the Last Library by author Frank L. Cole, and the creativity in the submissions was nothing short of amazing.
During the special author night last Thursday, the top three winners in each category were announced and honored with well-deserved rounds of applause. In addition to bragging rights, these exceptional writers also received Barnes & Noble gift cards to continue fueling their love for books and storytelling.
A huge congratulations to this year’s winners:
Adult Category
🥇 Richard Siddoway – "Just My Type"
🥈 Ashton Herrmann – "Algorithmic Dreams"
🥉 Jazmin Lister – "Rebelling Against the Organization"
Youth Category
🥇 Kate Womack – "The Great Burn"
🥈 Jade Boyd – "A Wasted Life"
🥉 Elin Boyd – "A Land with No Books"
Children’s Category
🥇 Raven Boyd – "The World Without Books"
🥈 Annabelle Jackson – "World Without Books"
🥉 Mayzee Herrmann – "Lilac and the Book"
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated—your creativity and passion for storytelling make this event so special year after year. Whether you wrote a story, attended the event, or simply love a good book, you are part of what makes NSL Reads such a fantastic tradition.
We can’t wait to see what next year’s contest will bring. Until then, keep reading, keep writing, and keep imagining! 📚✨

Silent Cry for Help: Note Leads to Rescue of Utah Woman
A woman was rescued in southern Utah after secretly passing a note to a stranger, alerting them that she was in danger. Authorities say the incident took place near the Arizona border when the woman, traveling with a man, found a way to ask for help without raising suspicion.
According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the woman and the man had stopped at a gas station when she managed to slip a message to a bystander. The note indicated that she was being held against her will and needed assistance. The bystander quickly contacted authorities, who responded immediately.
Deputies tracked down the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, where they confirmed the woman’s distress. The man she was with was taken into custody, and the woman was safely removed from the situation. Officials have not yet released details about the suspect’s identity or potential charges.
Law enforcement praised the quick-thinking Good Samaritan for taking action, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing.
