Man Critically Injured After Gunfire Exchange With Salt Lake City Police on I-80

A police chase and shooting late Sunday night near North Temple Street shut down a section of I-80 until early Monday morning. The incident began when a tow truck driver was shot at, leading to a pursuit. The suspect fired at police and was eventually stopped using a PIT maneuver. He was hospitalized in critical condition. No officers were injured, though multiple patrol cars were hit. Five officers have been placed on administrative leave as part of standard procedure.

Bountiful Police Investigate Car Break-In and Card Fraud at Walgreens

The Bountiful Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent vehicle burglary and fraud case. Authorities report that the suspect broke into a parked vehicle by shattering the window and stole a purse from inside. Shortly after the theft, the suspect used the victim’s stolen financial cards to make purchases at a local Walgreens store.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage and gathering leads. The police urge anyone with information that could help identify the suspect to contact them at 801-298-6000.

🚑 Cyclist Airlifted After Being Hit by Vehicle on Kaysville Trail

A cyclist was seriously injured Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Kaysville while crossing a busy roadway. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail, near Smith's Marketplace at 1370 W. 200 North.

According to police, the cyclist was hit while attempting to cross 200 North as part of the trail route. Emergency responders arrived to find the individual suffering from abrasions and head trauma. The cyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released further details regarding the individual's condition.

In response to the crash, police closed 200 North between Flint Street and Mountain Vistas Road to allow for a thorough investigation. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing and have asked for the public’s patience as they work to determine the cause of the incident.
